Cool Apparently, I was here!

Hello all,

I have followed a low carb woe since 1999. Of course, not steadily (ugh)
At that time, I belonged to Low-Carber forums, Atkins.

Lots of life happened, some great, some terrible, but mostly level. At my highest I have been 212 lbs. At my lowest, 164. Currently, I am in the 170's (high end) and this loss has happened in the past two years following a LCHF woe.

I began in earnest (again) Sept 2015 when my doc diagnosed me as pre-diabetic. She was writing out the Metformin script when I asked her to give me 4 months. She agreed. And four months later my AIC went from 6.2 to 5.6. My inflammation level is 0.4 (range 0.5 -1 is normal). And my blood sugar stays under 120 95% of the time, and under 100 50% of the time.

I love this way of eating. My downfall is I eat too many calories. I am also old (61) and while I am physically very active, back issues prevent regular exercise.

So, hello. I hope to find some old friends from the old bulletin board!

Welcome back! It sounds like you know how to do this, and have been taking care of your health.

I'm older than you, and have been forced to acknowledge that total energy intake (call it calories) needs to match the individual body's energy output, or else the balance gets tipped--usually to gain, hardly ever to loss. Even so, I resist "counting calories" with a passion born of failure. LC eating, with certain personal parameters, helps me live a sustainable lifestyle without counting much of anything anymore.

Best wishes!

Great! As soon as they build that Hypertransport tunnel from here to St. Louis, we'll be just moments away from each other.

Best wishes.
