Default Lowjax Exercise Log

Well, it's time I get off my butt and start exercising again. I used to play a lot of sports, but have phased that out in the last few years. Partially because I got fat, but partially because I was always getting hurt. I tore up my knee one week after turning 30 and it's been downhill since then.

I don't really have much access to a gym, and don't really have the time either (2 young kids at home, lots of family time). I want to start walking, riding our recumbent bike, and doing some aerobic type things. I probably won't blow anyone away with my exercise, but I want to start doing something. It will only help me out and get me back in shape (hey, I know, round is a shape )

Well, I planned on going for a walk today, but it is raining outside. Instead it was 6 minutes on my recumbent exercise bike. For some reason, this thing kills my quads after just a few minutes. (I think I know the reason, my legs are out of shape). Oh well, it's a start. I'll see if I go longer next time.

Tonight, we had to go out shopping, so I walked around Walmart for an hour. No cart to lean on, no sitting down anywhere (not even the blood pressure machine), just solid walking. It's not much, but still something.

The rest of this week, we plan on turning part of our basement into an exercise room. Have a recumbent bike to put there. Setup a TV with DVD player to do our workout videos and create space to do them. We are also looking at getting a Wii so I can play some of the sports. I hear you can work up a pretty good sweat playing tennis.

Alright, I've been naughty. I haven't done the exercising like I wanted for the last 2 weeks. It's time to get back to work. I'll get on the bike tonight and see how far I can go. My hips hurt a bit, so I'll have a built in excuse already (you shouldn't do that, yes I should, no you shouldn't, yes I should, shut-up, ok). Anyway, I'll see what I can do. Every little bit helps.

Ok, dusting off the old gym log.

Tonight was walking on a treadmill for 15 minutes. I went just over .6 miles. It's not much, but a start. I think I'll be walking at work during lunch 2-3 times a week and it will at least get my joints moving more than normal and should be good for me.

Today: 20 minutes walking on the treadmill and covered exactly 1 mile. 3 MPH average.

Today: 1/2 hour of Tred and Shed class. It's variable speeds of walking and jogging with a bunch of inclines thrown in for "fun". It was ok. Doesn't make me like it anymore than before, but it wasn't bad. I may take the class again. It's free and I have access to a personal training while I do, so that's good.

And over a year later, I'm back. Walked just over 1/2 mile today at lunchtime.
