Default Newbie on Atkins: some frustrations

welll helllo:)

I am currently on Day 17, still on induction. I lost 5 pounds in the 1st 9 days. AND NOW, my weight is just fluctuating, 2 pounds up...2 pounds down...the same 2 pounds:( Its reallly realllly frustrating!!!

When looking through my menu I noticed after Day 9 i started eating low fat cream cheese ( I know i should be eating regular, but unfortunately, my fam buys low fat products) So ive been having that regularly. Thats the only thing ive noticed recently...and I'm wondering if that is why:(
In the nutritional information it says 1g of sugar? but not in the ingredients! hmmm

I also consume whey protien occasionaly to stop my sweet cravings, it only has 1 g of carb and the sugar used is sucralose (splenda) i hope that okay?

In the begining i felt motivated, but now I just dont know what I am doing wrong:(!!!! I drink tons of water, I am getting my required veggies, and eating a higher percentage of fat thn protien.

Hope som1 can help!
Thank you

Hi Sauga.

First off congrats on the 5 pounds! Welcome to the site.

Can you post a few days of your menus so that we can take a look and see if something is causing you issues. It might be the cheese, some people have issues with it even in moderation.

Do not give up/in, this WOE does work, sometimes we just have to be patient as the body lets go when it is ready, not when you want it.

My goodness, Sauga, you lost a third of your hoped-for loss in the first 9 days!! That was great going!

Many lowcarbers experience a slowdown or even a halt in the scales' downward motion after the first couple of weeks, so you may be doing nothing wrong

I would suggest rather than carrying on with induction you move to the main weightloss phase of Atkins and start adding more carbs in the order set out for the OWL carb ladder to start discovering how many carbs you can eat while losing weight and inches.

hi and welcome to the forum.
you're getting good advice here, but i would like to add one more thing.
look at your menu and see all the high sodium foods?
try knocking some of that out... try to use fresh instead of canned.
try to use whole instead of fat free.
and try to remember, you are female. we hold onto water so easily during the course of a day, a week, dependent on what you're eating..
and being female and eating salty foods, our weight tends to roller coaster constantly trying to regulate for the sodium intake.. and all foods have sodium.. just canned foods and cheese has more.

so look at your foods, kick the higher sodium foods to the curb.
start a journal where you can document your measurements, your weight, your food intake and your mood...
its all part of the process..

enjoy the journey, it's quite an enlightenment!

Hi and welcome. Another thing I'd like to add is that you should probably shift your focus off the scale. You might become very lean, drop a size or two, and never see 120 lbs. The most important way that LC eating works is the shift in body composition, and the scale doesn't necessarily reflect that.

Thank you for all the support! I know I shouldn't be focusing on the scale..but when you see the scale creeping back up to where it used to be you think I MUst be doing something wrong but I'll keep trying it out and see if anything works for me

I think that is hard to grasp, but it's so true. I'm a size smaller than the last time I was this weight!

I don't even own a scale; I just go by how my pants fit.

My body is an apple shape so unfortunately it's hard to asses by my pants. As I gain mostly on my arms, face, and some on my stomach. So I can't tell by my pants

Hi there!

5 pounds in 9 days is fantastic!! Congratulations :-) You don't have much more to lose, so I think it is slower when you are closer to your ideal weight. It seems to go faster, the more weight you have to lose. Try to be patient with this....you are still down 5 pounds and I bet you are feeling better as well w/o the blood sugar spikes.

Hang in there!
