Default Who thinks her new rules are just toooo hard?

I've been trying to get back into healthy eating after being off the wagon for a good six months and so I got Schwarzbein's new book. I've been trying to follow it but it's just too damm hard. It's difficult enough to wean myself off all the good stuff like sweets, cakes, fries etc. but now I've to eat gluten free and low saturated fat also. I find it utterly IMPOSSIBLE. Plus I've got so used to having about 40 carbs per meal (too much for me) when I was off the wagon that I'm finding sticking to her 20 carbs not doable. If I could just know I could have a bit more fat, whichever cheese I want and gluten guilt free then I would be ok. But I can't even eat cheddar cheese without feeling guilty since it is a 'damaged fat'. I feel really deprived and am now regularly going far off plan and eating chooclate.

Does anyone think it would be ok for me to just follow her first book?

Help!

I haven't read her latest book, but if you did well on her previous program, wouldn't you do well to resume it? I say, do what works for you.-Gail

I have not finished reading the latest bk. I did really enjoy the synopsis of other diet plans that I just looked at last night (before falling asleep ) I do plan to read more this weekend--God willing and the creek don't rise.

I do think the first book was very balanced and helpful to most. The second one rather confused me since I could not obtain the various testing suggested.I never could decide which group I fit into, so I just am going to follow the first and see if anything in the latest one applies to me. I have recently started bio-identical hormones and find them a help to getting a good night's thoruough sleep.

I have found that sweets ,cakes, fries, etc. are truly not the good stuff for me unless I want indigestion. I have a sweet tooth but find when I include fruit regularly it does keep the nasty beast from attacking! I like Stevia as a sweetner also but sometimes use splenda (a no-no on TSP) but have not had trouble if not used daily. I think keeping it real and doable involves some customizing.

What I like about this bd are others experiences with doing what works for them. Gail's comments make sense, do what works for you.

Scarlet, do you know your blood type? I am asking because
I have all the schwarzbein books, but also like the blood type
diet. Apparently, gluten is not so good on that diet either, but
depending on your type, spelt is ok, which is almost identical to
regular wheat, just a lot less gluten. Also, that diet allows some
dark chocolate. I was doing it for a few months and the snack
was dark chocolate chips with walnuts and dried cherries. It was very satisfying and I lost weight. Right now I am not doing
any special plan, but my husband is trying to follow the new
meal plans from Schwarzbein. So we have corn tortillas,
corn thins(like rice cakes) and it's going ok. I think you have to
go easy, it's hard to change one's way of eating no matter what
plan you follow. I have yet to quit caffeine, but I think eating
better first is helpful. Anyway, just do the best you can!
