Default hello from Yosemite

Hi, I'm B and have restarted my Atkins/low card diet 2 weeks ago today. I have been a dieter my whole life it seems and have been as big as a size 28
(? somewhere around 300 lbs) and as small as an 8, currently in the 12/14 range. I think I messed up my metabolism a long time ago and have to be super strict for any pounds to come off. got a kick start at work with a biggest looser contest going on, there are 19 of us, all younger than me, I'm 52. Joined this group to stay low carb period, as its really the only thing that works. one other thing that may help, unfortunately I think I've developed an allergy to chocolate, blessing in disguise? per home scale have lost 12.8lbs

Welcome back, Yosemite. You have found a great forum for LC information and support, including challenges. Losing from 300 pounds down to a size 8, and then keeping most of it off, is amazing. Sure you will do well in the contest! all the best,

Default hating my scale

Thanks so much, trying to figure out this profile thing and starting a PLAN but it won't let me enter anything.... my home scale is messing with me, says i've lost 2 pounds, no wait gained 5 no lost 3 or 6 or gained 5, OMG im ready to throw it away... I will have to weigh tonight at work (I'm a nurse) hoping its better than what i'm seeing here, I've ordered a new scale that measures bmi fat % etc, has great reviews so hopefully i can stay on track at home.

There are even different ways to enter the site, I like this one.
http://forum.lowcarber.org/index.php?

You can see all the headings, light on means there has been some activity, or Last Post. Be sure you keep Notifications on so daily email you will see if a thread you have posted on has further comment.

For Support, try Countdowns, Buddies and Challenges. Here are threads like daily or monthly weigh-ins, with supportive comments from the other members. http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=106

There is an entire community who keep journals, become "friends" with others in similar situation, post on each other's journal, are very active every day yet almost never post on all the other topics.
http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=36 You can follow anyone whose journal is of interest to you...same weight, situation or an inspiration.

Hello and Welcome B!

You seem to be an old pro at LC WOE, but if you have any questions, just ask and someone will have an answer or point you in the right direction!

Which version of Atkins are you doing?

Wishing you much success on your journey to better HEALTH!

Hi B, I'm also new and have started Atkins about 2 weeks ago. I'm the same age as you and need to lose 25 pounds to get back to the weight I was pre-divorce. How nice you have a challenge going on at work! I'm unemployed right now and struggling to find a job so I thought I would do something positive and lose weight. I'm down 10 pounds but my initial goal was 35 pounds so I still have 25 to go.

Hope we can encourage each other!

Hello Journey,
congrats on your first 10 pounds! how I wish I only had 25 to lose, got a new scale today, weighs and calculates BMI, body fat muscle mass water weight and bone density. even shared ALL my numbers with my boyfriend, so now to make progress. this scale is slightly different from the hospital scale, but not much. so far 13.4 pounds down, 43.6 to go!

Way to go B!!!! You're doing great!

The new scale sounds really good--mine's very old but it still works. Brave of you to share your numbers with bf. I never even took my measurements but I'm going to do that today so I have something to compare to.

I find it difficult not to weigh every day but try, oh so try, to weigh only once a week. How about you?
