The best place for general low carb fare would Trader Joe's on Bay street, right next to the Northpoint shopping center across from Safeways. There is also Whole Foods on Franklin and Pine, I think.

As to restaurants, I like the Italian places in Northbeach. I think Italian cuisine makes by far the best chops, veal, and assorted poultry. They're all very low carb friendly, if you avoid the pasta.

In particular, I like the veal saltimbucca in Northbeach restaurant, which is the oldest Italian restaurant in San Francisco. Also, there's a deli there with awesome assorted meats and cheeses.

Joe Dimaggio's Italian Chophouse looks awesome! It's new, and I haven't tried it yet, but looking forward to soon.
