Post Juggling Three Goals

Greetings, low carbers! I'm into Month Five of my reduction program and have lost 19 lbs (varies!). I average a pound a week. I walk usually about a mile and a half a day with hubby and dog but as the bad weather comes, that will reduce dramatically as I live in the far north.

At the same time I am losing 50 lbs and perhaps more, I am growing out a pixie haircut I got July 7 to cut all the dye out of my hair. Which leads to the third goal--to go totally naturally silver-haired. Surprisingly, it's not all growing in silver but a lot of natural light brown on top. The silver shows when I flip the hair back.

Anyway, that's who I am and I am expecting that the pixie will grow out to bob length about the time I lose the weight next spring. So it should all work out at the same time. And maybe while my hair keeps growing, I'll keep losing. I would love to get to 135 but I think that's unrealistic at 54 and on meds that cause weight gain.

Glad to be here and I do have a blog, greywayblog.com, that goes into detail about weight loss, hair growth and being a silver siren.

Welcome Trappa...love the Silver Siren name. I took all the same steps you are doing! click on my profile for photos. Before dyed blonde, then a pixie haircut (not a good look on someone 5'9”) and start of Atkins weight loss no photos will ever been be seen of that phase first in progress still growing out, and now a silver bob with way more white than you have (11 years older). Sure you know all the other blogs and websites about going grey, I keep grey hair as a Pinterest topic to keep up with haircuts.

Back to Low Carb ask any questions on the different sub-forums. A long list of meds can hinder weight loss. http://forum.lowcarber.org/showthread.php?t=453311 maybe you can find alternatives? http://forum.lowcarber.org/forumdisplay.php?f=81 if not, possibly adding other techniques will continue Your steady weight loss. Do you have a Y or gym to add workouts in winter?

All the best,

Wow, Janet, great to meet you! I will check out those threads. My meds are variable in dosage but pretty much the ones that work. I expected when I cut the pixie I would automatically be beautfully silver, but it's all under the natural brown for now. Just like the thin me is under the fat. I'm looking ahead to joining the college gym in Nov or Dec when it's icy here. Look forward to your posts and thank you again!

About the hair thing...

I recently decided, as a 70th birthday present to ME, to stop being a redhead and let the silver shine! I gradually lightened the red (home hair color, which I've always used). Then I had the stylist cut off most of the length to a becoming style (see Judi Dench). Then she put in blonde highlights to blend the transition. Voila! Next haircut, I'll be a Silver Siren. I've enjoyed the positive drama, and people have been complimentary.

I appreciate the diet and the "hair thing" feedback!
