Default Must lower my starchy carbs

About 4 years ago I was prescribed a low carb diet by a dietitian and was quite success at losing over 30 lbs. I also reversed high cholesterol, high triglycerides and high glucose to perfect results. Well, years past and even when my weight was still fairly maintained my blood test results got worse again when I was off the low carb diet. It's strange. Similar weight when my results were good, but much worse blood test results again.

Now my doctor says "cut down on the starchy carbs or I'm prescribing a statin". So here I am again. I'm not thrilled to have to cut down so much on my starchy carbs, but I will.

Looking at the average amount of starchy carbs I was eating in recent years I suppose the carb grams would be very high, but I certainly wasn't eating more starchy carbs than the average person my age. But unfortunately my genes (or because of meds I take) are such that I can't eat as much as others.

Welcome!

Probably most everyone eats too many starch/sugar carbs. Some people just have to pay the price sooner.

Let's remember that starch turns into glucose (sugar) shortly after you stick it into your mouth.

I wouldn't take a statin. Their use is linked to diabetes, liver damage and other things. But you can fix your issues with diet anyway.

If you can STOP the starchy carbs, instead of just cutting down on them, it's actually much easier: an addiction that is cut off is less compelling than one that gets fed, little by little.

There is zero need for grains in the human diet, unless it's providing calories to someone who's starving. They, as you well know, lead to all sorts of bad outcomes.

When I lost the grains, I also lost my first 20 lbs, as well as a lot of the symptoms of arthritis, and my trigs, which had been OK, are now stellar.
