Not to go off topic... but I am...
If I don't want to spend the time "fighting" with people about why I won't eat carby foods, I usually say... "oh it looks wonderful and I'll try some later..." Amazingly, no one has ever come back to check if I've "tried" some. It's worked 100s of times for me...

I'm a school teacher and we have pot luck galore at my school... seems like we have one every other day... Many times, I switch lunch duty with a colleague so she can partake in the pot luck and I go outside and hang with the kiddos.

I've actually used that too. Sometimes it's a little different when they are right there with the food, ready with a spoon to feed it to you though! Ha! (Yeah, it's happened). Enough people at my work now I'm "dieting" and know in strict though!
