I had high LDL cholesterol numbers on my 4th month into the Atkins diet. After some research I discovered that when you're losing weight, it's normal to have elevated LDL cholesterol. In ketosis as your body metabolizes your stored fat cells into your blood stream, they release their stored cholesterol and cause elevated numbers. This will return to normal once you slow down or stop your weight loss.

Some doctors won't even do a lipid blood test if their patient is losing weight.

FYI: I too have made serious progress with my cholesterol issue in the past 6 months. I had labs done and visited my doctor a few weeks ago. I wanted the partial data, so I paid for an NMR out-of-pocket in addition to my normal labs. I posted about it on THIS page of my journal. My doc was very pleased with the progress. I could tell she was happy about it - probably as much as I was. On the visits before, I know she was torn between doing her supposed 'duty' to prescribing statins vs. letting me continue to try and fix the issue myself through diet. I think she was pretty amazed by what she saw.

I haven't changed much and I'm still eating my lchf diet. I'm happy to hear you're doing well!

Yes I completely agree. I read a lot about this since the first test and I've come to the same conclusion.
