Unhappy ROSS chocolate

I bought a box of ROSS white chocolate, ate a couple of bars, but if I eat one on a empty stomach I either have a big headache or have the runs!

Anybody has the same secondary effects???

Thx

Yeah, you have to watch out for things made with sugar alcohols. They tend to have a laxative effect if you eat too much. Some people are more sensitive to it than others.

I haven't had too much trouble with Ross chocolates but too much other SF stuff has given me terrible stomach pain etc.

Sorry to hear you had so much trouble with Ross chocolate.

Ross is made with Malitol, which seems to be the most popular sugar alcohol. I personally don't have any problems with it, but some of the other sugar alcohols like lactol, did horrible things to me. So if you are sensitive to Malitol, try some chocolate with the other types of fake sugars. You may have to make a US trip though. Heresy uses Lactol, and you can get Heresy miniatures at Wal-Mart in the US.

Unfortunately I can eat Ross chocolates -- actually all SF Chocolate -- with no digestive issues.......I really wish that weren't the case...then it wouldnt' be so easy for me to chow down on them.

FYI I think I read in the LC news/media section that Ross chocs are being forced to stop calling their chocs "lo-carb". Anyone else see that posted somewhere?????

One of the employees at a low carb store here told me that if you eat a couple of bars that the runs will happen. Sorry, wish I could offer some advice, but I haven't had any.

If you look at the ingredient label of a Ross chocolate bar you will find very few ingredients, fewer additives, less chemicals, and malitol in much less proportion that other s/f bars. To my way of thinking, if you want a treat, Ross's are the best commerically prepared chocolate treat. I wouldn't recommend eating them on an empty stomach but as a dessert after eating a good low-carb meal.
