Hi Everybody! I've been clean and sober since April 24, 1993. My DH will be celebrating his 18th anniversary on the 14th of Novemer. I have been soooooooooooo blessed with sobriety, now it's time to get rid of this extra fat! I just started asking God to help me make good LC food choices when I started induction.............so far, so good! It's always so great to meet others in recovery!

Right on NED!! What an inspiration you are!! I tried OA when I first joined Bill and Bob, but I found that I can work the program on anything, I do still have a hang up about praying for weight loss, like somehow it is vain. I guess it is some of that residual insanity that tells me I dont deserve it.
Thanks for being here!
Much Serenity!

Hi Tammy!!

I feel ya on the praying for weight loss. I don't pray for weight loss, that's a give in. It's a physical aspect of recovery that is bound to happen when I stay abstinent.

I do pray and ask God to help me not hurt myself or escape with the food.

Really, this is the crux of it, isn't it? We are hurting ourselves with food or alcohol to fill a void. God or whoever doesn't want that for us. I don't think praying for that is at all vain. Sometimes I just pray to stay out of my own way. Sometimes I just say, "OK! I give up! I cannot do this on my own! Your turn!"

Greysheet is a 12 step program that started in OA back when they had various food plans, I actually think that they (OA) has since then brought their "Dignity of Choice" plans back.

We weigh and measure 3 meals a day WITHOUT exception from the Cambridge Greysheet food plan and commit those meals to a sponsor and don't eat inbetween meals NO MATTER WHAT! We use the 12 steps and the Big Book as part of our program and solution to arrest compulsive overeating. It sounds extreme, and perhaps it is, but it has changed my life and given me total freedom as a result!!!

Thanks Twacky, not extreme sounding at all, more like a less expensive, less carb version of Jenny Craig.

Another beautiful, sober, serene, LC day here at the coast of NC, though I hear the cold weather will be rolling in by the weekend. Will miss the high 70's low 80's. But heck I live at the beach, that gives me much gratitude.
Hope every one is happily trudging today!
Much Serenity
