hi-
Pat, I wish you had stuck with it too, but what is important is that you are sticking with it now. I know you will never go back.

Tonight's planned RM: margarita, chili, salad, small quesadilla with cheese onion and guacamole. DH will also have ice cream.

I really struggled today. We had a special day at work and I was surrounded by treats! I gave in. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Patriciakr I looked at your stats....WOW! You are doing an awesome job. You said you started and stopped a few time. What changed this time? It seems like something clicked?

I finally got to where I couldn't take the pain in my knees and went for a second opinion. This second orthopedic surgeon was marvelous and blunt. I was very high risk for knee replacement surgery at the weight I was at - 368. He told me that many of his patients manage their pain by controlling their weight. I decided that it was time to lose weight - all of it - for good.

If I had not started doing so, my life might be very different right now. I developed a heart arrhythmia less than a year into losing weight and was hospitalized. They were almost unable to do the atrial ablation - which was advised since I was not responding to medication. If I had not already lost a chunk of weight by then, I don't know what would have happened.

It sobered me - being in the hospital, and developing this issue. It got me really clear, really fast. I want to live a long life with my husband, who is quite a bit younger than I. And I don't choose to have chronic pain when it's under my control to not.

That's it. The switch got flipped and I'm never going back to being morbidly obese again.

My best advice - what worked for me - find a way to do this, not all the reasons why you can't.

Default Trailer for the film Carb Loaded: A Culture Dying to Eat

I have a link to the just released first trailer for this film that I supported via Kickstarter, on my blog. I can't wait until the film is out!

As for today's weight - I am 196.4 this am.

OMG...this is hard! It is harder than I thought it would be. I didn't realize how hard it would be to give up snacking and to give up carbohydrates. I haven't had one successful day this week. It looks so easy on paper.

on this plan you don't have to "give up" anything- just have your carbs once a day with lots of veggies and protein.
I have found that when I eat enough protein I'm not hungry. I do try to drink a lot of water and green tea - especially in the afternoon. For most breakfasts I have coffee, 2 eggs with cheese and turkey bacon. I am not hungry until lunch!

You don't have to give up snacking..just change what you are snacking on.

hi-
getting ready to make dinner. Last night RM was salad, brussel sprouts sautéed in olive oil, grilled strip steak and a baby sweet potato. DH also had a gin & tonic and ice cream.

Tonight's planned RM is: salad, stuffed chicken breasts with cheese and spinach, the leftover Brussels and an ear of corn on the cob-my first of this year! DH will also have cake and ice cream and probably a glass of just tonic water.

Going on a 35 mile bike ride tomorrow- maybe. We would ride half, have lunch, then ride the rest. We will see. Then come home, shower and go out for burgers and salads.
