The original Diet Watcher Workshop was this:
Breakfast: 1 egg or 1 oz. cheese, 1 oz. meat or animal protein and 1 slice of bread or 3/4 c. dry, non-sweetened cereal.
Lunch: 2 eggs or 4 oz meat or animal protein, or 4 oz. cheese and 1 slice of bread or 1/2 c. cooked rice or whole grain or 1 cup vegetables or 2 c. green salad.
Dinner: 3 eggs or 6 oz. meat or animal protein and 4 oz. cooked vegetables.
Also: 2 c. nonfat milk per day is allowed and 3 pieces of fruit.
There were lists of approved vegetables and fruit. Diet sodas, coffee & tea, artificial sweeteners were allowed.
I was on this diet in 1971. It went defunct some years later when Weight Watchers became more popular. The program was run like a WW program--weekly weigh-ins, records were kept, lectures given, recipes provided.

Exercise is wonderful, but there isn't a single clinical study published that shows that exercise helps weight loss. If anything, steady-state cardio exercising increases appetite, and we all know what happens next.

I'm doing fairly well with atkins, but I liked the structure of having the diet spelled out for me, for instance, servings per day, serving size etc. I lost 60 lbs in 8 months and kept it off til my first pregnancy 6 years later. I would love to find a copy of the original diet from way back when. Internet searches have turned up nothing. : (

Hi Hope,
I believe that I still have a copy of the Diet. If you would like a copy of it please email me at FiestieMS~yahoo.com and title it DIET and I will get it out to you.
Blessings

That's really sweet of you, but Hope hasn't posted here since 2003.

This is an old thread.....

I heard of it. I can remember my mom being on that diet back in the 70s. She used to leave her booklets for it lying on the kitchen table and I used to read them. Too bad I don't remember what they said.

I am very interested in the diet work shop diet also. Would you mind sending it to me at planz6~gmail.com. I lost a lot of weight years ago and it was the best diet I have ever been on.

Just in case the poster who offered last October to send copies out does not visit this forum at the moment you might be better off to send an email to the address she gave in her post (#27)
