Angry Aw Geez What happened?!?!?

Can someone tell me what happened please?

I started LCing last week, everything was really excellent... no cravings lost some pounds felt really in control. Then Thursday evening I went out for dinner with a friend, especially to a restaurant so I could order what I wanted ... and then something happened and I don't really know what: I suddenly went into a food frenzy and have eaten total junk for 4 days non stop. I'm feeling awful (physically and psychologically) and have started again this morning, needless to say fatter than when I started last week.

What happended... really? I've never had such a mindless guzzle-fest in my life. I wasn't even eating because I was hungry but just to stuff myself with food. And the rottener I felt the more food I shoved down. Someone said something about fear of losing weight. Is this possbile? I saw the pounds coming off so easily I got scared? Sounds dumb to me but... any thoughts guys?

Geez what a loser I feel (pun NOT intended)
Thanks.

No, I don't think it was self sabotage (although I do think that sometimes plays a part later in a plan) I think you sercame to temptation, and because you had more or less cleared your system of all the junk, when you then started eating it again, you couldn't stop. It's called insanity hunger, well, that's my name for it. I get it when I eat anything with unrefined flour or sugar....I personally believe that it happens because something you ate tipped your blood sugar level from being 'normal' (you had normalized it with LCing) to high again, and because of this, you get what I just refered to as insanity hunger.

I might be talking bull, but i truly believe after 3yrs (almost) of being LC, I have put my finger on why I binge.

Now, also, it can be psychological, but in this case, I think it was more likely a biological response by your body.

The only way of getting back on track is to do just that - get back on LC again!

You'll survive, don't let this get to you - step right back on track and before you know it, you'll have lost the gain, and be back to losing. Just be careful when you put yourself into that position again, and remember what I said....you can't even have a 'little' of an illegal food because as you can see, it triggers a massive over eating response.

If it makes you feel any better, I never had a real uncontrollable binge on food until I started Atkins. I know the kind of frenzy eating you're talking about. I have done it. I'm not sure why that occurred. Maybe it's because switching from high carb to low carb is such a huge drastic change. The more strict I am with myself with calories, the more I binged. So perhaps it also comes from feelings of deprivation. The good news is I don't have this type of binges anymore. I've settled myself pretty comfortably into low carbing as a healthy lifestyle that I don't feel like I am being deprived anymore. I eat enough calories every day. It makes me feel good to know I'm taking good care of myself.

Good luck and best wishes to you.

For me, sometimes the temptation is more than I can bare. For instance, I'm a smoker, and if I were to try to quit, the worst thing I could do is be among smokers. At least until I would feel in control a wee bit more.

Will power.... she can be your best friend or your enemy (when she disappears).

Don't beat yourself up. Today is a new day and it never too late to start again!

Hugs.

Thanks for the support guys.

I've been really good today, super eccellent and definitely have learned not to feel too cocky and sure of myself! Went to a sports tore and bought some stuff for a protein shake (bleagh! hope I get used to it) so i don't run into snack danger. I'm feeling a little less stupid too.

those binges can totally mess you up! I've had I don't know how many since I started Atkins years ago! This is like my 6th go around...lol
but when you try Atkins once...you always seem to feel better getting back on it, even after a horrible slip up.

protein shakes aren't too bad. I guess it all depends on the flavor you are getting.
