Wow, thank you everyone for all the great input! Ok, to set the record straight when I was thinking about eating cold meat I think I was picturing me eating cold steak while driving down the road or something, lol. Of course I've eaten lunch meats, cold chicken, etc. I think in my mind sometimes a meal isn't a meal unless part of it is heated...something I have to get over obviously.

I'm going to visit my sister in Texas at the end of the month after not seeing her for 7 years and we will have quite the celebration of food and drink so I'm set to begin this after I get back. I'm just trying to plan as much as I can so I can set myself up for success. Everyone's input has been invaluable!

Smcca, what kind of food app are you using? I'm assuming it's not a calorie counter app or something like that? Is it a food prep app?
Thanks!

I use a food planner app to figure out the following day's food each night, and pack it in the morning. I plan for the unexpected as well, keeping a few LC items (sardines, tuna) in my office and bringing my lunch and a snack each day (sometimes there are "surprise" trips, one since I've been on plan).

I'm pretty used to all the planning and packing at this point. I don't love doing it, but I do love how easy it makes it to stay on plan. I never have to think on my feet when I'm tired and hungry this way.

Planning and a cooler should position you well for success!

There are also lots of fast food options. Lots of burgers that you can order with no bun and no ketchup.

My favorites now are the Wendy's ghost chicken burger (grilled), and the McDonalds Steakhouse burger with grilled onions and mushrooms and no bun. Also, love the Dunkin Donuts flatbreads with egg, bacon, cheese and avocado, no bread - served up on small flat plates.

The only prior haunt that I can no longer visit is Taco Bell. sigh. Used to love their crunchy tacos. smile.

Good luck!
