Back in the day when I lost over 30 lbs in 5 months, counting calories was not part of my regime. In fact, it never even entered my mind. And I was very successful in weight loss........... well, till I fell off the wagon.

Some dietitians and 'experts' claim Atkins works because it naturally cuts calories and "a whole food group" but I beg to differ. Eating fried pork fat like I sometimes do or rib-eye with lots of butter is not calorie cutting.

Hi Vicky it's been two weeks since you posed the question...how are you doing "the second time around"?

Hi Janet!

Um... 2nd time around? I'm afraid to admit it but it's possibly my 5th time around, maybe even my 6th. I honestly lost count.

So far, I'm disgusted in myself. I hit the Ben & Jerry's again and this is killing my spirit. I MUST stop this. I gained 3 lbs back.

I feel awful.

I understand what you're saying here. We all react individually to this way of eating, which can affect each of us differently.

Thanks for the input. It is most helpful.

DANDR is based on simple premise of serving of meat and a cup of leafy veg or other allowed lc veg. This works for most according to DANDR. Some need fat fast, some need IF, some need calorie counting, some need more fat.......

DANDR mentions liberal use of fats, and with decrease of appetite an overall decrease in food consumption. Which is a decrease in calorie intake. Just not literally counted. Some folks do like to track the calories.

We do what works for each of us.

Now I am craving a nice juicy, thick and well marbled Rib-Eye steak, a stick of French butter along with a couple of shots of Monte Alban Blanco -- thanks a lot folks!
