Congrats on your pregnancy, jleblanc71!!!!! It's a little harder to follow LC while pregnant cause of the cravings, hormones, etc., but it is definitely do-able.

Thanks! So far I'm only about 4.5 weeks and I'm not having too much trouble. I love popcorn and have had some of that and some dreamfields pasta but I am going to be cutting way back on that too! So far so good!

First, congratulations!!

As for "level" or plan, it's so individual - I've opted to avoid anything "fake," so no artificial sweeteners and no low-carb replacement items like low-carb breads or tortillas. I'm really avoiding all grains. The carbs I do get come from dairy (I take supplements 4 times a day and sometimes have 1/2 glass of organic whole milk to get them down), non-starchy veggies, nuts/nut butters, the little in eggs, and some fruit on occasion. I haven't been tracking closely, but I would estimate I'm coming in around maybe 40 grams of carbs daily.

I have been trying to decide whether to nix the lc tortilla's and bread. I probably have one serving a day . Usually lc toast with cinnamon and truvia w breakfast sometimes as breakfast depending on how I feel. I am taking the new chapter organics perfect prenatal 3x day so I know I am getting plenty of nutrients. It doesn't make me sick so I can take it with water. I just get in such a rut if I go strict. Traditionally I don't really care too much if I eat when I get strict and since I've never been pg while lc I am not sure if it will have the same effect. What's your experience? I might be good with a serving of berries a day and veggies. I have to push the veggies hard or I will eat broccoli, green beans and salad and that is it. I like mashed cauli its just a mess to make :-)

I find mashed cauliflower a pain to make as well! I rarely make it at home, maybe only a couple times a year. My usual dinner side dishes are green beans with almonds, broccoli florets, and baby brussles sprouts (each from frozen - I don't cook or shop often enough to buy fresh veggies!). I often actually don't bother with sides at all.

If you want to continue with the tortillas or bread, I would suggest adding fat and protein to them instead of just cinnamon and Truvia - fat will help to slow the absorption of the carbs and smoothe out any potential glucose/insulin spikes. When I havethings like fruit, even just berries, I always try to have something fatty with it - full-fat Greek yogurt, cream, nuts or nut butter, cheese, etc.

I can't say I've gotten into any ruts, as I find lots of variety in low-carb eating. Tonight, we had organic chicken burger patties topped with provolone and avocado dipped in a mixture of mayo and bbq sauce - YUM. Like anyone else, I have some favorites that I eat frequently (right now, it's full-fat Fage yogurt with this "superfruit" spread stuff mixed in), but not the same stuff all the time.
