Question Sugar alcohols

Upon asking a group of Adkins followers, I have gotten two different answers on subtraction of sugar alcohol. When subtracting sugar alcohols from total carbs, do you subtract the total amount of sugar alcohol? Some people are saying if the sugar alcohol content is higher then 10 grams, you only subtract half Is this true?

A clinic diet based on the ATkins clinic recommends no sugar alcohols. Stay away from the sugar alcohols like Malitol and Sorbitol as they can cause GI issues. They also are not ketogenic and will cause blood sugar to increase.

There are other newer natural sweeteners more commonly used in LC baking now...stevia blends, erythritol, like Pyure and Swerve, which do not cause a BG response.
