Question Who's done the adrenal or insulin tests?

Hi - I was wondering if anyone's done the saliva tests and/or written tests for adrenal function recommended by Dr. Schwarzbein?

What did you think of the results, did the test just confirm what you already suspected, etc.?

Also, is the insulin test similar to one you might have in a blood chart already anyhow, or different?

Thanks.

I have recently had the insulin resistant test because I was at the doctors anyway, she was great and supportive to help me find out if I was IR or not. I was very surprised to find out that I was not insulin resistant. Within less than 1 year I had healed my insulin resistance. I am slowly switching over to the different plan of being insulin sensitive.

The insulin resistance is a blood test and it's possible you have already had it done. The adrenal gland test is a saliva test.

Are you thinking of switching from Atkins?

Yes, thinking of switching from basically an Atkins diet. I am at least maintaining and not gaining... but have in past gained several dozen pounds all while eating an amount of cals/carbs others of similar size/activity/composition would lose on.

So Schwarzbein II with the adrenal, etc., aspects is of interest.

I'm pretty sure I fit into the burned-out adrenals category. Suspect insulin sensitive though not convinced of that. Would love to find an easy rule-of-thumb test for the cortisol part though.

My doctor just ordered an insulin blood test to test for PCOS and I'm also doing the saliva hormone panel b/c I stopped ovulating. Since my cycle is so long, I have to wait forever to collect the saliva. I'll let you know my results. It should be interesting to compare.
