I seem to have hit a plateau of 15 miles on a diet of less than 5 carbs per day. I can't seem to run further than that without starting to add in carbs. I ran 18 miles a couple of days ago using two Gu packs taken at the 13-mile mark and did fine.

Maybe pre-modern paleo eaters weren't running extremely long distances to find heir food!?!

Here is my typical daily diet- and I have found that I eat about the same everyday-maybe a little extra protein on my long run days-

Breakfast:
22 Almonds
3 Tablespoons natural crunchy peanut butter
1 egg
1 banana (medium to small)
1/8 slice of fruit (nectarine, apple- not much carbs in a slice)

Lunch:
4 egg whites
if I go out to lunch I will eat a grilled tuna and salad or sashima

Dinner:
1 egg + 6 egg whites
small piece of red meat (I'll cook it ahead and cut it about size of palm)
grate a little bit of parmasan(sp?) cheese
1 chicken breast
cup of green beans
cup asparagus (or some other vegetable like brocoli)
small slice of cheddar cheese

I also take quite a bit of different vitamins which help a lot.

American Indians would chase an antelope til it dropped from exhaustion, then eat it. The Tarahumara Indians of Copper Canyon, Mexico have races that last several days non-stop. Their diet seems to be equal parts corn and beer.

Default dana robin 5: How many carb would you count?

Your diet looks healthy.

How many carbs would you total for what you posted? The fruit slice is probably 2.5 carbs. The banana is probably the highest.

I like the protein in your diet.

How do you prepare the egg whites?

Thanks.

athena11,

I have no idea what my carb count is!! Maybe I can put this all on Fitday and figure it out!

For my egg whites, I will take one whole egg and then 6 egg whites add a little salt and wisk them together and then scramble them slowly (if I have mushrooms I will add one). I then grate some parmasan cheese on it. Or, if I am in a hurry I may hard boil them and get rid of the yolks. I was thinking of slicing the whites up thinly and using them in the place of pasta.

How many miles do you run?
