good morning all time for new starts a new week and new chances. OF course mine is shot again. I keep on trying to do what I can between life's screw ups.
I need at least 10 days to get back again!

WELCOME TO THE NEW START.. another makeover Monday AKA MAKING IT WORK!..
CARL just came in ans said he was starting his diet!! YESSSSS!!!! Maybe I finally got through to hi this weekend. AToo many dying too young and he was borderline diabetic a few months ago so that was a wake up call.. and I told him about HIMI's friend... hmm... sunk in I think about obesity.
He will do "HIS THING" which worked great before.. large salds and yogurt and banana for lunch.. cut out most breads and startches.. has cottage cheese, and hb eggs.. does low fat.. he drank beer last time so not no beer has got to be better. He will not do LC so something better than junk eating!!! He will again work out at the gym as he can.. bad ankles now so not so much treadmil.. I am thrilled. THAT means I AM BACK ON PLAN NOW I will bring his pizza left over to him and that is it. I will have..drinks all night... soft drinks!!! and hot tub!!!
Need to cleanse this posin out of me anyway. ONE really bad day for certain.
Will get on as I can with this insane sched for the next couple of days. Put up with me please..

PAULETTIEQUE~~~ good foods for the show. Glad you enjoyed it. HAve not been to the theatre in ages as well.
The two of us can have a count down to goal LOL... MY goal has got change to smaller ones.. going to try for that 150 first!!! It seems to evade me.That is still a ways off for me.

So to sleep I go and i WILL use NYQUIL... I have this miserable cough and sometimes stuffiness.. very strange.Not typical cold but i NEED some good sleep..rather have the carbs tonight than the drugs in the cabinet.

Whoo hoo Jodi! Congratulations on winning game 35!! You go girl!! We're so lucky...when we're on plan we rock but boy oh boy when we stray we take it to a whole other level!!

Cricket wow what a horrendous trip you had! Thankfully you got to see old friends so it wasn't all bad. Good luck to Alabama! Being from SC Clemson was my team of choice when I was younger but for you i'm willing to root for your team today!! Hope the nyquil cocktail killed your cold and gave you some nice sleepytime!

Himi sorry you had that last little hiccup at the end of the game. I wish you a large loss this next game. It's so frustrating to see people you care about litterally eating themselves to death but hopefully they find the motivation to change the way we all have...that's all we can wish for!

Barb i'm so glad your bacon and pizza toppings didn't prevent you from showing a loss this game.

Paulette i'm glad your movie time was a success! Wow and you are able to stay on plan at a mexican place! You are so strong! Mexican food is my kryptonite for sure! I can't resist the chips and salsa no way no how without feeling so deprived I want to kill the people i'm with. What movie did ya'll see by the way??

Chrissie I hope you had a nice evening. I hear you we all have a lazy day once in a while. I hope you did well and will show a loss for the new game today.

I am the one cruisin' today. I am SO HAPPY to be hanging out at this new weight and not creeping up! I have 2 weeks of hormones starting yesterday, so it may go up a bit yet, but so far I'm stable. My new diuretics seem to be controlling that!

CRICKET - so glad you are back home and able to do your regular schedule. I'm happy that Carl has decided to reign himself in and start following a plan (even if it is the basic MAN plan) He sounds much like Ed. But Ed is not an exerciser - he is active all day long and would NEVER think of doing the gym thing! But I agree - it makes things so much easier for YOU when the other half is at least cutting back on the junk foods and stuff! Well..to a degree. ------- I hope your long hot tub soak was refreshing and revitalizing for you!

HIMI - so nice to hear from you! The weather turned bad for us, too, so I am glad you are OK and not out on the icy roads! You did good at the buffet - the best you can do with the usual carb-laden foods offered. And I am sure the increase will drop as the excess sodium is flushed. I am sorry to hear of your friend's struggles with diabetes. If he is following the recommended diabetes diet, he must change to low carb now! That recommended diet only keeps one dependent on insulin. It will not help you control ANYTHING. I KNOW this! I saw the cover of a "diabetic" magazine the other days that was recommending DONUTS, of all fricking things!!!! Lower sugar/fat, sure, but still MASSIVELY high in carbs! The whole thing sickened me. The medical community MUST change their views on what is correct for a diabetic!

BARB - I swear the Packer game was over when I posted that..... how weird. I was not watching the game, per se, but it was on in the other room and I saw a posting on the NFL website ---- it said the Packers WON. How bizarre. ---- Congrats on your loss for the week. You are back in the 80's and I hope this new week lets you see a nice big drop!

KATHY - Our Mexican place has many low carb choices for entrees. The rice and beans are served on the side, so they are easy to push away onto the other side of the table. It is sad to see Ed munch away on the basket of chips before we get our food, but I have learned to ignore them. Sometimes I order a little bowl of guacamole, so I can at least eat a little of that before the entrees arrive. I just eat it with a spoon! - We saw THE REVENANT with Leonardo DiCaprio. Excellent. Very shocking.

CHRISSIE - I am kicking you out of the Mable Mobile today. I hope you land on the slide!

JODI - Congrats on winning the game!!!!!

I will be going to my Mom's today. The weather is COLD...only -6˚ right now (regular temp!), but the roads are dry and safe. So I will try and get back online later today to see how we have all fared on this Making It Work Monday! Have a good day all!

Foods planned for the day:

Coffee/cream right now.

Tuna salad with Avocado Dressing for lunch with 1/2 cup of cottage cheese. (haven't had cottage cheese in a while)

Big 5.6 oz Venison Patty for dinner.

1/2 cup of freshly made creamy yogurt for a snack.

Cals will be around 1242 and 12g carbs today. Macros 69/27/4. Fat and cals may go up a bit if I have further coffee/cream at Mom's. She buys the Gevalia coffee and it smells so darned good! I will most likely have a cup or two of that! That would bring it to 1346 cals and 13 carbs. 71/24/4.

Down a smidge.

Paulette: Stable is good and you are just preparing for your next big drop. I think when your posted, I was still watching the game for just a few more minutes, but it was essentially over since the score was 35 - 18. It took me awhile to finish my post, so it probably looked like it was much later when looking at my post time. It was probably only a matter of minutes between the two. Many times, with the Steelers, you can't feel comfortable, even with a score of 35-18 as I have seen them win/lose playoff games with multiple scores and mistakes in the last few minutes of the game. I guess that's what keeps it exciting.

Jodi: Congrats on your big loss this week and winning the game. I know this next week will be tough for you, but hoping that everything goes well for you.

Cricket: So glad to hear that Carl is receptive to losing some weight. Often times, it seems like type 2 diabetics seem to experience the complications quicker than type 1's. I think it is probably due to the fact that you sometimes get the disease after years of poor eating habits and weight gain and those habits are hard to change. My one carb lover son was diagnosed with type 1 at age 18 and he often said he wished he had been diagnosed when he was younger and not used to eating/and developing a love for carbs.

Sounds like you are going to have another busy week! Relative to your goals, the small goals are much easier to achieve...and then move on to the next...so I think it's wise to make that change.

Brady is doing fine. He's still not eating a whole lot, but is drinking and playing normally. My foot is still hurting, but not as bad. I can at least walk without the extreme pain. I quit the anti-inflammatory yesterday and started the arthritis medicine again and I'm going to take it daily to see if it helps. We've had nothing but rain and damp weather here so I think I need it.

Kathy: You and Jodi are fortunate that you can still lose pretty quickly after a gain. Actually, as long as your not letting your gains get out of hand, you will still be able to maintain your losses....and that's the goal!

Barb I lost a "smidge" too to start this game! (thanks for that word Paulette, it totally fits! )

Jodi you crushed it last week-- congrats!

Kathy you too! What a nice loss and well on your way back to your comfy range.

Cricket I am so glad to hear that Carl is ready to take his health and diet more seriously-- whatever way it works for him will have to suffice, as long as he does it!


If hearing my friend's plight helped inspire a change of mind/heart, then thats at least something good coming out of his struggle. Thinking back, my decision to re-start this WOE after years away from it was probably inspired in part by my friend's situation as well. He was already having trouble with his foot over a year ago, and we were communicating and visiting a fair bit since we had the stallion up there, moving mares around and etc., and I could see how much his weight and health was limiting his participation in the horse hobby, something he has always loved. I met "D" through the horses back in 1999 and I met his wife "M" because of the horses as well that same year-- I was the one who introduced them to each other in fact. They are my age, so all of this trouble for him, and he is only 50 years old. "M" is also obese, but so far other than bad back/sore joints is not experiencing complications-- she was very athletic as a younger lady and hurting her back playing sports was one of the things that led to the weight gain initially. "D" has lost weight before-- a very substantial amount-- but gained it all back. Its so frustrating to watch but I really cant judge, having struggled with eating and food addictions and losses and gains myself. I know how difficult it is, and a never-ending challenge. I can only hope that he/they will eventually come around to a healthier lifestyle and stick to it enough to see positive results.

read all the wonderful posts and the influences and stories are amazing..
As for me... stop the world.. I want to get off..
Jodi asked if I WOULD drive with her to S fla.... so.. I called Carl to make sure he would be on board to feed 12 horses and 7 dogs and 6 cats..all need to come i at night when cold... and he agreed.. so now the logisitcs.. she is picking up rental car in the morning.. we have hotel room this evening for the game and 8am screening for ins for work benefits..so.. Carl comes home for lucnh.. very hard to do.. will go over the feeding regime fo each beast... then to take HIM back to work so we have less cars in the morning.. and come back here so I can get ready for tonight and tomorrow... then to go to hotel with all my stuff for the next few days south..called my friend Bonnie who lost her hubby revently and will stay with her... Jodi had asked wifey if I could possibly come to service sine " mom is going through her own grieving,,," was denied.. so will try to see my older daughter and grandsons in there somehwere.. maybe unable to do. Service is Wed morning and Jodi picks me up friday morning to return home.Will be passing by the house so on the way down I drop off her truck and we go.. and on way back we pick up truck to go to rental place to return car... what a mess. I will not be on this game until the end so LOA for me until Sunday new game. WIll be on post but not bothering with stats unless I am sound of mind by then!
HAve a great week and runt he game .. you all know how :LOVE YOU and cannot wait to return to a normal life.
