Such great news to wake up to this morning. After having done so much for my own quality of life these past 18 months, I couldn't be happier for Professor Noakes right now.

The wonderful Dr Malcolm Kendrick comments on PRof Noakes trial, plus John Yudkin, Dr Fettke and other research supported by the food industry.

Great article by Malcolm Kendrick. He nailed it:

He quoted John Yudkin:

“Can you wonder that one sometimes becomes quite despondent about whether it is worthwhile trying to do scientific research in matters of health?” he wrote. “The results may be of great importance in helping people to avoid disease, but you then find they are being misled by propaganda designed to support commercial interests in a way you thought only existed in bad B films.”

It is all horrifying.

Kendrick always seems to be on point. I'm concerned about the pervasive trend here where misinformation under the guise of "mainstream science" stifles civilized debate and distorts truth. There are other scientific fields today where this is happening beyond nutrition, and when discourse or opposing views and free speech are discouraged, the outcome cannot be good. If we only knew what we don't know . . . .

Oh no, this just can't be...but HPCSA is appealing!

NOAKES ENERGIZED, WRATHFUL AS HPCSA GOES AFTER HIM AGAIN

Quote:
So, the Health Professions Council of SA (HPCSA) has appealed the not guilty verdict for Prof Tim Noakes. His lawyers are furious and up for the fight ahead. Noakes is “strangely elated”. He says that it will “allow the exposure of much about which the South African public would otherwise have remained ignorant”.

Of course, an appeal was always on the cards. The HPCSA’s legal team has the right of appeal. However, even die-hard opponents of Noakes see it as a vindictive, stupid move. It may come back to haunt the HPCSA and the lone, “horrified” dietitian who started the case against Noakes. And her organisation, the Association for Dietetics in SA (ADSA). And the many other dietitians, doctors and assorted academics involved in his prosecution.

His lawyers call the case against him a persecution. The appeal lends more credence to that. It also feeds speculation of vested interests behind the HPCSA’s failed bid to silence him on low-carb, high-fat (LCHF). The case has lasted more than three years and cost many millions of rands. If the HPCSA pursues its path, as looks likely, it could go on for years and cost millions more. Noakes’ lawyers see it as “more waste of everyone’s time and money”.

All for a single tweet in which Noakes said that good first foods for infants are LCHF.

The saga and more of the legal issues continue at link.

What idiocy!

Around the world we are seeing what I hope is the last gasp of the calories in/calories out, everything in moderation, low fat, high carb dieticians and their medical, pharmaceutical, big food backers. South Africa, Australia and Ireland, who's next?

I can only speculate that the SA HPCSA is banking on wearing down the Noakes team financially and emotionally. What more needs to be stated than what has already been argued by the Noakes team over the past 3 years? Yes, this is true idiocy, and I hope further exposure gets the publicity to finally lay to rest the startling lack of nutritional knowledge forcefully represented as fact in all parts of the world today.

Someone has set up a petition to stop the appeal. Not that it will change anything if the HPCSA are stubborn enough to consider appealing at all, but I felt pretty good signing it tonight.

This saga continues to get worse!

I missed an important point last week when the petition first came out...the HPCSA gets to appoint the appeal committee!!!

https://www.dietdoctor.com/sign-pet...ssor-tim-noakes

Quote:
Professor Tim Noakes was recently found innocent after a three-year-long trial, about a low-carb tweet.

But even that was not the end, as the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) has appealed the not guilty verdict. To make things worse, the HPCSA also gets to appoint the committee hearing the case. Effectively they get to judge their own appeal.

This doesn’t look like justice. It looks like a witchhunt against a respected scientist who dares to question nutritional dogma. If you want to protest against this, you can sign a new petition. It went live a week ago and now has over 7,000 signatures: Avaaz.org: Health Professions Council of South Africa: Prof Tim Noakes: Stop the Witchhunt Against Him More background and comments from Professor Noakes: Health24: Stop the madness and back Noakes, begs online petition
