Chandbaby posted the same thing several days ago and I'm skeptical that this artificially-induced diabetes is the same diabetes seen in humans. Type 2s don't seem to have damaged receptors, instead their receptors have hung out No Vacancy signs.
The severity of type 2 is highly correlated with excess weight. There are many accounts of people reversing type 2 by weight loss alone and not just on low carb either. Some have done it on diets like Weight Watchers. I think it is a lot easier eating low carb though. Some people with type 2 have permanent beta cell damage from high blood glucose levels and will not be able to reverse it with diet alone.
Most people think type 1 is caused by a virus that confuses the immune system into attacking pancreatic cells. Our insulin receptors work well as most of us are not insulin-resistant.
I very much distrust the media to report things accurately.
