Question whey protein

Where do you all get your powder for protein shakes? I've just started this type of dieting, ordered some whey protein isolate from the Protein Works, had my first ever shake today and feel seriously sick. I hope this whole thing hasn't been a waste of time and money

I've never had a protein shake, as on Atkins I find I get enough protein from what I eat, so don't know why it should make you sick. Did you use anything else with the powder that could have caused a reaction? Maybe your body is reacting to an additive?

I have used protein powder to "fortify" soups for my husband when he was ill and I worried about his protein intake and also added it to baking recipes.
So if shakes do not agree with you but you are not getting enough protein with your food choices maybe you can find a way to add the powder to your foods instead?

Oh that's a good idea ty The recipe calls for 2 teaspoons of leucine to be added, which I did. I might try the next shake without that and see what happens? Then if that isn't any better I might try the powder on food.
It's only for 2 weeks - 3 x shakes a day and 1 LC meal. The "six week cure for the middle aged middle" diet. I don't think I could manage 3 of those things a day, I took it at 11.30 and still feel queasy!

You'll probably find that most people who follow a LC eating plan dont use shakes or bars, or powdered protein. Our protein comes from the meat, cheese, eggs, etc that we eat.

I threw it out Trace, waste of money. I couldn't take the stuff, it made me feel queasy for hours afterwards. I just thought it was a good (aka lazy) way of losing weight.

I posted in your other thread about protein shakes!
There's some cheap nasty stuff out there!
Optimum nutrition gold whey, I use French vanilla cream.
Cheapest place to get it in prozis or discount supplements both online.
I make it with water, peanut butter & banana & blend. I'm ~ goal & workout 5 days a week so I can have the banana, you should avoid it though.
If you get vanilla over flavoured you can throw strawberries etc in them as & when you plan allows for them.
I notice your starting weight & target weight are the same as mine was!
Good luck on your journey
