Question

Hi everyone,

I am wondering what your experiences with having wine, occasionally, with your meals have been .... did it cause you to stall, gain, go out of ketosis, or none of the above. I know what Atkins says regarding drinking alcohol, but I was wondering about personal experiences???
Thanks, Debra

I think the Eades Dr.s (Protein Power) don't share Dr. Atkins view on this, but forgot what they said exactly, anyone?

Got me handy dandy "Protein Power" here, p. 105-6. The Eadses are basically in agreement with Atkins that a glass or two of dry wine is OK with a meal. They count the carbs in wine as 1-1.5 per ounce.

I haven't noticed wine causing me to go out of ketosis. I'm a slow loser anyway, and the odd glass of wine doesn't seem to affect me one way or another. I don't drink wine with every dinner, maybe once a week on average.

Exclamation

In their new book, The PP Lifeplan, the Eades's continue to suggest that an occasional glass of wine or alcohol MAY be ok, but they stress moderation. And they mean bone-dry wine; sweet wines, or appertif wines like sherry are double the carbs.

For me personally, wine is the only alcohol I drink; for some reason anything else makes me sick. I seem to bypass the buzz, and go directly to Hangover Hell. That being said, wine can and does put me in a stall; it makes me retain fluid and it triggers horrid cravings. Especially red wine, which is too bad 'cuz it's my favourite
