Default low carb vege sausages and burgers

Hi does anyone know of any low carb vege burgers and sausages that are available in the uk i think the quorn ones are too high and i am really bored of them. When i was in the USA i bought some really good ones like morning star and boca and they were very low just 1 or 2 carbs each.

I used to be able to buy morning star rashers here but i cannot find them anywhere.

what brands to other people use?

i get really fustrated with the lack of choice in supermarkets in the uk and online doesn't seem any better. Can anyone reccommend a good online vege retailer?

sorry for the long moany post! any thank you for looking!

One of the girls here on the site posted a recipe making them from scratch with tvp, the recipe looked really simple. I haven't tried the recipe yet but here it is..

Veggie breakfast sausage

1 cup water
1 cup dry tvp
1/8 tsp savory
1/4 tsp each thyme, black pepper, sage
1/2 tsp salt, or to taste
1 TBL splenda
1 egg

Bring water and spices to a boil, add tvp. Remove from heat, stir well. Allow to cool enough to mix with egg. Form into patties and fry.

Entire recipe ( I would assume you would get at least 6-8 patties from the recipe.

301 calories
6 g fat
28 carb (12 fiber so 16 net carbs)
38 g protein

(for other recipes I have made sausage I used cumin, sage, salt pepper and cayenne for my seasoning. I don't eat pork but he said the spices I use make it taste like the real thing. It was my way of making http://www.lightlife.com/product_de...immeleansausage taste like it was made from scratch) Goodluck finding something!

Tesco's do frozen hotdog sausages which are quite low and very nice. The Tivall range is available in the frozen section of many health food stores. They have a variety of burgers/sausages, but carb counts vary. Morrisons used to do lovely frozen sausages which were much lower than the quorn ones, but they changed the recipe and taste like cardboard now. I think they are still lower than quorn if you want to see if they are to your taste.

The Worthington and Loma Linda brands have many choices (choplets, dinner cuts, Tender Bits, Skallops, Big Franks, and Fri-Chik are some of my favorites!). I think they are produced by the SDA church. Check with them or order online (I googled and found a number of places--don't know if there are any in the UK). Happy hunting!

For induction that is a 1/4 of your day's carbs, but as quorn is made of a fungus I suppose it would count as some of your vegetable allowance
Quote:
Mycoprotein is the main ingredient in all Quorn products. It's made from a member of the fungi family (like mushrooms and truffles) and is a high-quality meat-free protein that's naturally low in fat, with very few calories. It's high in dietary fibre (important for your digestive system) and has the essential amino acids your body needs, with no cholesterol or trans fats at all.
So if you like them make sure you add a fair amount of fat to your meal to avoid overeating protein.
