Happy October! I hope this month sees many new pounds lost for us all.

Our stats at the end of September follow (I will only be able to edit this thread for a day or two, so let me know if I missed yours!)

Cindyg: 32.4 pounds since 6/21
Nancy: 15 pounds since June 1st
Truffle00: 17.5 pounds since 9/8
Dane: 6.6 pounds since 9/19
VALEWIS: 15 pounds since 7/3
PB Girl: 6 pounds since 9/19
UrbanZero: 3% BF lost since 9/19

Congrats! Most of us had stalled out on other plans, I think we're doing pretty well here!

Here's a link to the Low-cal/Low-carb Recipe thread.

You should see 6 of 'em, maybe your browser needs to refresh the page? I started with mine, went back and edited in the others. I assume you posted while I was editing.

Did you two intentionally start on the same day?

Hey, just measured myself. Looks like I have lost inches in my shoulder area, hips (horray!), a tiny bit in the thigh, gained in the bust (Pre-TOM), calf, ankle and upper arm. Yay! All that and I've only lost a few pounds.

No. Not at all. I guess we are both just "I'll start on Monday" type people!

I don't know her and I don't even recall reading any of her (his?) posts.

Note to UrbanZero: Read Sept thread, Valewis and I gave you some advice re: body fat percentage

Since we are generally eating low calorie and low carb, has anyone come across people who tell you that you aren't eating very much?

We had to work late on Thursday and I was good and packed some cottage cheese and veggies for dinner. Low cal, but my calories were evenly spaced out thoughout the day. I was feeling good because I had planned my meal and didn't need to run out to eat fast food like everyone else.

Then, this co-worker comes up to me and says, "Is that all you are eating? That is not enough!" This surprised me, because 1) she was treating me like I was one of her kids and 2) she has been on so many low calorie and/or crash diets that she could be the poster child (think Bernstein and expensive B12 injections). I replied, "well I just ate my cottage cheese and I may eat a bit more when I go home" (I had a glass of whey protein when I got home)

It didn't really bother me, and I think she is just envious that I am sticking to a plan (she has been telling me that she needs to get back on a programme and lose weight again). She is quite annoying, saying that she wants to do low carb and then continues by saying, well I can eat oatmeal for breakfast, or that Fruit and Yogurt from Tim Horton's and then.... I just tune her out because although those may be healthier options, they are not Atkins style or traditional low carb (especially not with the sweetened yogurt!)

So anyway, have you guys experienced this? I hate when people comment on what I eat regardless if it is good or bad food, good or bad comments. Grrrr. Suggestions?

I always think a good, obvious redirection on to another topic is good. "Hey, I've been meaning to ask, where do you get your hair done?" Do it enough times and they'll get the hint that your food isn't up for discussion.

I'm starting October off really well!!! 267.6 this am. That's 32.4lbs gone since June 21!! I'm hoping to keep up a rate of 10lbs a month for a while. I'd love to be under 200 for my bday next May. Not sure that I'll make my goal of 250 by Halloween, but I should be really close to it!!

Did you all notice that all together we've lost 90.6 lbs! How cool is that! Urban I should add your bf % too

Good job everybody!!

Yup!

I'm sitting at 78kg right now, free meal tonight, and TOM due tomorrow, or soon. This is good.......I seem to hold water the last 2 weeks before TOM, so I'm hoping for some nice numbers in the weeks to come.

Nancy, I also lost 4" overall.

PB, about people commenting on your food......that's a hard one. I like Nancy's suggestion, or if you felt you need to respond to the questioner, you could just say you are on a specific food plan, thanks for asking,

My DH used to make comments when I had a refeed or a free meal, but with the results on this PSMF, those comments have stopped, haha.

Nice job, Cind-E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I too retain water for at least half a month each cycle. Grrr! But this month, I seem to be losing some water weight before my TOM. That's weird! Well, whatever, I'm hovering a mere .4 of a pound over my "new low" and my period is one week away.

The really weird part is I had a "free day" yesterday. I had potatoes with breakfast, sort of skipped lunch because I was still full from breaky and too busy to eat, then I had chili, a huge baked potatoe and a dip of ice cream for dinner. And woke up almost 1 pound lighter this morning.

I expect its just delayed and will catch up to me. My body is getting sneaky.

BTW: Here's a posting from a study Lyle found about how people retain water when they lose fat. http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fo...75&postcount=25

So I guess you guys were right about the retaining water theory!

I have found that when doing low carb I totally retain water for about 2 weeks before the TOM too. It sucks to see no movement on the scale for 14 days when you are eating right and not cheating at all! I just try to remember that the fat is probably still coming off, and it is just tissue/water building up for that wonderful TOM! *note of sarcasm, of course!*
