I'm having my teenage daughter go on CAD at the start of July when we get the book. I can arrange for the food to be in the house (she might often have to make it herself alas) and we already don't have junkfood in the house. Hopefully she will read the whole book.
She tries lowcarb (which is what our house 'has') but:
1. She chronically yo-yo's, often within 1-3 days.
2. She eats and eats LC stuff (meat) and still feels hungry.
3. She has constant starch/chocolate cravings she feels she can't control.
4. She hates herself for #3.
Zuleikaa suggested she might benefit from this eating plan. She is bombing horribly on standard LC for sure, she's gaining yet MORE weight thanks to binging-off-it constantly, so it seems like it might help.
I'm adding a bunch of supplements to her days to try and bring up the minerals and such in case that helps.
I saw this review at amazon and I was wondering if you guys could comment on it.
This review was written in the year 2000, 12 years ago! And the book itself is like 1993! I was kind of bummed there wasn't a newer edition.

The book is very motivational, but is a little hazy when it comes to details. For instance, we are told to have whatever we like in our reward meal with only the guidance that it should be a feast, not a gorge. That is what it says in the book. However, after checking on the website today, it appears that they have added a number of disclaimers to that statement. They say that EVERY reward meal must start with 2 cups of salad, and that you must have a 1/3 protein, 1/3 carbs, and 1/3 veggies balance. I don't mind this at all, in fact, it sounds quite reasonable. Just be warned that none of this is in the book. It seems like the diet is a work in progress, constantly changing and refining itself. I worry that I am not keeping current-how long before this book becomes outdated?

Are there other sources of 'updated' info that I should be acquiring for this?
