Default Ketone stick Question

I am on a semi-low carb diet. I go to Medical Weight. I have limited carbs. Today I took a ketone test and the color was a bright pink. I was told to come home and eat an orange? What does it mean?

It means whomever told you to go home and eat an orange is an idiot.

Ketosis is the DESIRED state for low carbers - means your body is converting/burning FAT.

They're urine analysis sticks, available at least in the U.S. in any drug store (also available widely online). They tell you whether or not you are in "ketosis," the state promoted by Atkins and other LC gurus as the indication that your body is burning fat for energy, which of course is preferred.

There's a lot all over these boards about ketone sticks - some use them, some do not. I went several months into LC without ever using them, but I've since found they are a useful tool for indicating when, for me, even a SMALL amount of carbs can have a negative effect on my fat burning. It helps keep me honest.

I am thinking of buying some ketostix online. They seem pretty low priced and a great idea.

I read on another forum that pale pink is healthy, as it means that there are ketones...but not so much to suggest dehydration (which purple does)....She said Atkins sometimes says to aim for purple. But, in her opinion it is unhealthy x
