Default Yay me!

I'm excited today...my husband bought me an elliptical trainer yesterday. I've been talking about getting one lately.

So I got up early to do my workout on it. Boy am I out of shape...I lasted about 6 minutes and then did some stretching........it'll probably take me a week or two to get better. It probably doesn't help that I smoke either but that I don't do a lot of and I'm planning on quitting right away. I'll just keep chippin' away at it. We have a new weight bench that we're gonna set up this weekend so I can do weights too.

Hopefully the weight comes off that much faster.

I usually stall after induction for a few weeks but I've never exercised on Atkin's before so I wonder if or how much it will change things for me. I'm excited!

I just sold mine yesterday. It was an elliptical/stepper.

I loved it and I lost ALOT of weight using it.

But I'm ready for a treadmill.

Enjoy your new machine.

Congratulations! I got one last year & it took me about a week to get up to & over 10 minutes...take a break on the weekends (or whenever time suits you) & you'll see how much easier it is to go farther. I love it & I'm sure you will too

Can I ask you a question??

I've been looking into getting one of these and I'm wondering if it is the right machine for me.

I cannot do step aerobics because I have trouble with my knees (I was a dancer for 10 years and it took a toll on me).

I've heard that elliptical machines are a lot easier on your knees than steppers....what do you think?

Ellipticals are better for your knees. For that reason they are better than treadmills and steppers cause there's no direct impact it's just a one constant motion, I guess it's like riding a bike standing up. I highly recommend it!

I think you get a better workout on it too.

Occasionally when I walk outside I'll get little knee pains from overdoing it, but when I get on the elliptical I can't feel them. It's a different movement & very easy on your joints, but a heck of a good cardio workout. You'd be surprised the first time you get on one how quickly your worn out. Just about every muscle in my legs & rear were sore the next day...not my joints tho.

This is a good site for info on the trainer...

Ooh! Elliptical!

I have one and do 20 mins a day, it has 6 levels, and I started at Level 2 on Jan 23rd, and now I am on 3 and still 20 mins.

In that 20 mins I go just over 3km.

I personally prefer LESS time and more intensity, because doing that for say, an hour? No. Not as fun at all. 20 hard and fast (for me) minutes? That I can do!

I love it!

I find it a much easier workout when I do a heal/toe simulated walk motion than just planting my feet, especially during the more difficult parts of the programs.
