You need at least 2 tbs a day, 1 in the am and 1 in the pm for it to work best. It is kind of like taking metamucil or benefiber. It is high in fiber and helps things move through the system faster. By things moving through the system faster your body doesn't absorb the bad junk going through our bodies as well which = faster weightloss in most cases. However, if you are taking any medications or BC pills they will not be properly absorbed so when you take any meds etc. leave a two hour gap in between flax and meds. Did you get ground flax? If you didn't you need to grind it yourself or it isn't going to work.
I bought some ground flax seed yesterday and added a table to my eggs this morning. I really didnt notice any difference in taste. I am going to add another table to something at dinner and see how it affects me over the next few weeks.
I just started adding ground flax seed to my plain yogurt. It's really good. I was stalled for 3 months - so I did some tweaking to what I was eating. I did quite a lot of research on this board and other areas and found out I could have yogurt. So I started making my own, YUM Then I found out how low flax seed is in carbs and knew the fiber would be a good addition. So this is what I have in the am for a snack - way better than a bar. Think I'll have to add maybe another spoon of flax per day - but quite pleased with results.
I make my own chocolate milk shake with ground flax seed. One cup ice, one cup heavy whipping cream, 2 T Cocoa, 2 T flax seed ground, and splenda to taste. Not too bad. The flax seed is the only thing that keeps me regular and it works every time!
I've been adding flaxseed to my breakfast "cereal" for quite a while -- then read that it needed to be ground to do any good!
So for the past month (?) I've been adding 10g ground + 10g unground flaxseed....
Question: The ground flaxseed really doesn't taste very good (I also don't like the smell). I need to buy fresh flaxseed today, and then I'll grind a new batch tonight -- will storing it in the refrigerator help?
