Wonderful Beef Short ribs
These were very good.
I had the butcher slice the ribs thin, in bite size pieces, and as a preliminary step, laid them on cookie sheets to pre-brown in a 450F oven for 30 minutes, to render some of the fat before the braise. This step rendered about 3/4 C of fat! So my end product was not greasy. Still had enough fat to be tasty, though.
I substituted Brown DiabetiSweet for the brown sugar called for in the recipe, and also added 1/2 tsp garlic powder, but all other ingredients are as per the recipe. I made sure the tomato sauce had no sugar.
this was very good over steamed cauliflower.
This would also make a great sauce for meatballs.
