Hello folks!

I have never been a member of this forum so I thought I would give it a shot. I never tried lc before until two yrs ago when I had nothing to lose. I was at my all time high of 320lbs. After a few months of eating lc I had lost 50 lbs! I was so happy because I felt great!

Then I was blessed with the gift of giving life, again. I now have two perfect angel little girls that are amazing. I gained about 25 during pregnancy and now, I am trying to get it back off, and more! Even though I am breastfeeding I am trying to keep my carbs as low as I can without hurting my milk supply. I am taking fenugreek to help.

I havent weighed since 6/1 the day I started. I plan to weigh on Friday this week! I am so excited to see how I have done!

Wishing you all the best of luck!!!

HMU

Jen

Good luck

There is precedent in traditional diets for breastfeeding on a low-carb diet, so I'm sure you'll do fine. Just make sure you are eating enough and getting high-quality food. You need it to rebuild yourself after the birth, and the baby needs it to grow.

So, I forgot to mention that my friend at work and I started at the same time dieting, as a game/friendly competition...and she doesn't do low carb...she is only doing low cal...and she beat me! I was totally devastated. I worked so hard and she was eating manicotti! WTH!

Anyway. I have decided to try to eat more...maybe I haven't been eating enough and I am going to start counting my carb intake instead of just winging it...

Wish me luck. *APREHENSIVE*

I thought this was a game/friendly competition?

Putting artificial pressures on yourself won't help; in this case, it inspired you to "do what you were doing, only better" which is good competition; but remember that eating manicotti on low cal means one little square and that's ALL.

I can't do that. Manicotti is a food that, the more I eat it, the hungrier I get.

Good luck! Don't compare yourself with your friend. Just do what is right for you and your baby. Your friend might have been starving herself, for all you know. You need to keep your food intake up to give your baby the healthiest start possible. Low-carbing is great while breast-feeding, but make sure you eat adequate calories.

Have you tried smoked salmon rolled around cream cheese? Soooo much better than manicotti! You could also make a manicotti filling to have in the middle of something other than pasta, such as vine leaves or similar. :0)

Smoked Salmon rolled around cream cheese!!!!! That sound amazing!!!!

Thanks. I am doing this the way I know it works for me. I don't have the time or energy to count calories, or points, or anything. I eat some carbs...but they are in everything anyway...

You are absolutely right. I shouldn't put pressures on myself. Thanks for the response!!!

I thought I would post something today... I have been blessed that even though I am very heavy I have not had issues with hbp or diabeties, even though hbp runs in my family...so, I know, if I don't get it together, its coming.

I am so excited about my weigh day. I have set it for June 29th, but I really wanna check now! I left my scale at work to prevent myself from weighing every single day and worrying about it...

Been doing very well. Craving pizza like crazy!!!

How bad are veggie straws? I eat about a serving a day, they are 11 carbs. My biggest prob is coffee. I love the creaminess of the creamer...and I only have one cup at work at night, cant bring real cream without access to a fridge. I have tried the flavored additive, that liquid stuff, but its not very good... any suggestions for a good creamer???
