Default Phase 1 and illness

I am very new to low carb eating. When I started the SBD 8 days ago, I had a bit of a cold. Now my cold is horrendous -- I am run-down, miserable, stuffy, and have painful sinus headaches.

I have been following the Phase I guidelines quite well. I have experienced no hunger and minimal cravings, and have lost about 6 pounds. I have been drinking between 3 quarts and a gallon of water a day, so I think I am getting plenty of fluids.

Should I stay on this diet, or try it again when I am healthy? Is the weight loss too much for my system right now? Or do I just have a bad cold, the symptoms fo which are unrelated to my diet? Does anyone have experience or insight into this one?

Thanks

I'm no doctor, nor an expert on this diet, but i would think that if you are sick, you should ease up on it and add some healthy carbs until you get better. I don't think any diet would help a head cold.

On the other hand it could be a combination of your cold and some symptoms related to the diet. I experienced fatigue, sleepnessness and headaches among other things during my first few days (although I've only been on it a couple of days longer than you lol). Your body does adapt to it eventually though. Still, if you were already sick then maybe its too much of a shock to your system. Isnt the old saying "starve a fever, feed a cold"?

Default I think you are right

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days and have come to the same conclusion that you did. I think I will add a couple good carbohydrates and see if that doesn't give me the extra energy and nutrients I need to overcome this sickness.

Thanks for your imput.
