get out the calculater and a glass of water
Hi there, here are my two cents worth.
Barry Sears (the zone) says to take your lean body mass, in pounds, and multiply it by .5 if you are sedentary or .6 of you do light activity. That will give you the minimum amount of daily protein you need. Use that to build your other calculations on.
The other thing that works for me is to use EFA's to supplement the caloric intake. That way your body is getting the best of what it needs.
The carbs are a matter of personal discretion. Following Atkins, I tend to go easy on the carbs and monitor my intake by my body's response. This should be your ultimate goal anyway. Once you can readily listen to the needs of your body, you will have achieved the freedom that Dr. Atkins promises. Does this make sense? (Sometimes I lapse into philosophical tangents.)
And lastly if you want to perk up your appetite, try increasing your water intake if your fat intake is low (and yours seems to be a tad low) and add some spices to your food. Bland is blah!
Good Luck
Colin
