After reading this thread I went to the pharmacy and I bought some. Started taking them right away. My weigh in is on Monday we will see if it does something for me. It will be only 5.5 days but hopefully I can see a difference. Thank you for all the great info.

Ally- not sure if you will see any loss in that small amount of time. You have to give the supp time to get into your system enough to do it's job. I always give any new supplement a good 4-8 weeks to see if in fact it works for me. Best of luck to you.

Gotcha! Thought this might help during TOM. It seems I loose for 2 weeks and the other I retain. It is hard for me to pop pills but it is worth a try. Thanks again, sweetie!

I have been buying L-Carnitine at my local drugstore and paying $21.00 for 30 tablets, that's 2 weeks worth at 1500 gr a day. I just went to puritan online and bought 60 tablets for $14.83.

I just looked at Swanson Vitamins online. They have a bottle of 100 (500 mg) tabs for $11.99. It says to take 1 a day a couple hours before a meal, which would be over 3 months. Even at 3x a day, that's over a month's worth.

Default How much CoQ10?

How much CoQ10 do I take per day? I just got in a bottle in the mail that I ordered online thru Puritan Pride, it has 50 mg per gel tab. I also take 1500 mg a day of L-Carnitine, and a "Centrum" daily supplement.

I have had people say to me to take the L-Carnitine and COQ10 30-40 minutes before each meal, and then I have had others say to be sure and take them right before I go to workout...I am confused, which is it?

But even the optimum amount won't work very efficiently unless it is accompanied by omega-3 oil. Take it in two doses, before breakfast and lunch, with flaxseed oil or another omega-3. He recommends Twinlab 500 mg tablets, which are the best kind: L-carnitine tartrate. He says all manufcturers don't identify whether their is the tartrate form (it's the most effective). The Crayhorn book sounds fabulous and very informative.

So now I'm taking L-Carnitine with a flax oil/evening primrose combo.

is omega 3 oil the same as fish oil?? i take fish oil 1700mg a day..and i am taking the acetyl l-carnitine! What is the the difference of the acetyl and just the regular l-carnitine? does it matter?

I've been taking L-Carnitine & COQ10 for 3 weeks. So far the benefits of taking these supplements are loosing prior-during and after TOM. I was loosing 2 weeks of the month and retaining a lot of water during the final 2 weeks. I've lost 9.5 lbs and I still have 1 more week to go before the final result. If I lose more than 10 lbs this month then I have to say this is definetely worth every penny. Will update by April 2nd, 2006.

L-Carnitine Rocks!

This morning I weigh in and lost another 1.5 lbs. This brings me to 12.5 lbs in one month. Awesome!!!! I am so happy! Thanks a million for this thread!

Hmmm...would it hurt to take both? I could use help in all of those departments!

Soooo - uuuuhhhh - now what was I going to say??

But really, actually, would it hurt to take both? Also, what does flaxseed oil do for you? Are you supposed to take it in conjunction with l-carnitine? I bought some yesterday at Target - 30 tablets for $10. So I figure that if I have to take at least 1500 mg/ day, that is only a 10 day supply. A buck a day to get skinny - worth it me thinks. But I am still going to order a larger supply online if this gets me going again.
