Default New to forums, question regarding low cholesterol?

I'm new here - I don't have any particular reason why I started a LC diet [not diabetic, not terribly overweight, etc] (no specific plan in particular); I watched "Fat Head" then read "Good calories, bad calories" and decided to try low-carbing.

The results have been good, I've lost around 20 lbs in 2-3 months, feel better, etc. I arranged for a physical (the first in 4 year) that I just had today. As part of the physical, I had labs done. Honestly I was expecting to have typical low-carber "levels" - e.g., high total, high HDL, relatively low LDL, etc.

I was surprised to find that my total is 152, LDL is 99 and HDL is 42. Trigs are 53 and glucose was 91. All around general "good" numbers. Although I have a family history of high cholesterol (my mothers' side all take statins), personally my cholesterol has been fairly low - the last time I had labs was several years ago, it was in the 160's, and I recall the first ever time I had it read ~ 10 years ago - it was 110!

Just wondering if there's some sort of delay for the cholesterol aspect of LC-ing to kick in?

Some people have the sort of reaction to low carbing. Actually, your LDL is even lower than the calculation states because when triglycerides are below 100 it throws off the calculation. You could have up to... I think... 30% lower LDL.
