Another version of this
I don't do this, but I have seen the value of it.
Every day, write down three things you are grateful for.
Every day.
You can't repeat.
They all work the same way--getting you to focus on the good side, rather than the limits and bad stuff. Looking for a gift instead of looking for a problem.
I suspect your therapist will want to work on your observations a bit--those are things you DID. Not quite the same as "things you like about yourself." I mean, if all you have to do is DO something, why not just write out three checks to charity and be done with it? So, in a reframe:
I am able to make a commitment and honor it by getting out of bed earlier.
I am sensitive to my son's feelings.
I am a gentle teacher and a good example to my children.
I am able to be with people in trouble and not shut them down or try to fix them or pretend the problems aren't serious.
And Fox, makeup is just icing. You're attractive without it, too. (Didn't check your age: I love Lincoln's statement--A man makes his own face after 40. Most of "attractive" is habitual expression, anyway.
