Hi Jewles, nice to meet ya
Hi Jewles,
Sure I'd love to be your buddy through your low carb journey to high protein heaven....
Tell us a bit about yourself and we'll help you get slim for that wonderful trip down the aisle.....many congratulations on your engagement that's really wonderful!!
Being in love should help melt the pounds off but I've found that forward planning is the key to changing bad eating habits to good--once you establish new habits this new way of eating is effortless--
BUT beware of grain addiction it's a killer--just ONE mouthful will have you cramming in carbs for days afterwards....
SO it's best to find a week when you can concentrate on moving to induction--I found counting stuff was too much for me in my weakened high carb state so I just had meat or fish and green salad for lunch and dinner and eggs for breakfast--in addition to one of the meals I had a serving of cooked green veg--like asparagus, or green beans or spinach
In between meals I had homemade beefburgers made with JUST
meat; or chicken thighs or legs; smoked salmon rolled around cream cheese mixed with chives and parsley--I don't eat pork but you could have slices of ham or bacon as snacks or in addition to eggs for breakfast.
You will find in a few days you will no longer feel hungry and if you do a small amount of protein will fill you up.
YOU MUST DRINK WATER a LOT of water---some say 1/2 ounce of water for every pound you weigh.
I drink a couple of {English pints} every morning before exercise then a pint before each meal and a pint two hours after each big meal and then the rest during the evening.
It is essential that you drink enough water to flush out the fat your body is processing and to have enough water to process the food you are eating.
It is recommended that you do induction for two or three weeks and see how much you are losing--by that time your insulin will level out and your cravings will drop a lot--then you can add carbs--I am in the middle range so I lose weight pretty well but not spectacularly--enough to keep me happy--I don't want to lose weight quickly as I have been down that road before and I just ended up panicing and gaining it all back--
After induction I substituted my snacks with nuts which were more portable and didn't get me looks at work as I wrestled with a lamb chop instead of a chocolate biscuit at coffee time.
It is all in the Atkins book, but I am a bit of a rebel and would rather hear what others find works rather than stick to a book...don't know how you are about that...
Look forward to getting to know you Jewles and hearing about your plans for a LC future with that man of your dreams!!
Come and visit me sometime--you're always welcome at my journal.
Kae
ALL TOGETHER on the road to enLIGHTenment
