I'm starting the Atkins diet tomorrow (Oct 20th, 2003). Been putting off losing weight for too long. I'm a diabetic, and although my diabetes is controlled by diet, I'm not losing any weight. So I bought the Atkins New Diet Revolution book and have read it. Just wondering if anybody has any tips to help make induction go smooth?
Tips, hmm. You can find plenty of them in Low Carb Tips on the orange bar at the top of the screen.
My main suggestion is to drink plenty of water, take your supps and don't worry if you feel absolutely terrible for a few days from about Day 2 or 3. It is just your body switching from carbs to fat as a fuel source.
For diabetics, I would also suggest reading Dr Bernsteins Diabetes Solution. Dr B is a diabetic himself and can therefore offer some great advice.

Hi Ryan!
Very welcome to this way of living...
My best sugestion is to read and read once again the Induction phase at DNDR and stick strictly to its rules. Those first days could be hard but soon you will feel very good and with a sense of control of what you eat that is simply so cool! After those first days all will get easier...
Take your supplements and drink a lot of water.
The support that this forums offers has been essential to me also.
Happy first low carbing day!
Cheers,
Isiar
