Cool My introduction

Hello everyone. I started to go low carb August 23. My husband and I are both working on it. I was inspired to try it again after reading Gary Taubes book, Why We Get Fat. We lost a lot of weight using the original Adkins Diet book back about 14 years ago and then of course "went off of it" when we reached our lowest weight. I was 140 and he was 204 at his lowest. To me the Taubes book was the missing link I needed. The message was that There is an intrinsic metabolic reason for gaining weight and craving carbs. Some people don't have it. My husband and I do!

So we are starting again. He started at about 250 (he would not tell me exactly)
And I was at probably 166 ( last doctors office weight)! One month later we have already stalled, he is weighing about 240 and I am 159. We are basically on the induction phase, except that we have a cocktail ritual of 1-2 drinks in the evening. We have switched from wine to occasional champagne or spirits.

I have also eaten cashews at work in 1 oz packets almost everyday and have occasional berries and cream. I'm not sure what else he is doing except late night cheese and pork rinds.

We want to make this doable for keeps and get off the yo yo dieting so should we hang in there and try to have it our way or tighten down? Our carb intake was huge prior to starting the LC WOE.

Welcome!

Reading Gary Taubes (in my case Good Calories, Bad Calories before WWGF came out) made a huge difference in my understanding of LC as well. It's good that you already get that this will be a lifestyle change rather than a temporary fix.

Have you stumbled upon the many youtube videos of Eric Westman presenting his LC plan? Good stuff.
