Default Atkins on Oz TV!!!!!

I dont believe it....Two stories on Oz commercial TV tonight within 15 minutes!!!!

Anyone see them??

Usual intro about it being the diet of the stars (Brad Pitt etc, yawn...), but the one on A Current Affair actually conceded that two new studies have shown it's effectiveness and health benefits.

Of course they had to go to a so called 'expert' who still warned of the dangers of the diet (not specified), and once again, the 'expert' did not offer one grain of evidence to back up her claim.

We are on our way to the main stream people!!!!!!!

Even better was that the article in the New England Journal of Medicine about Atkins WOL was mentioned in each of the two news shows I watched last night too - Channel 10 and Channel 9 news both mentioned it .... they still can't get away from calling it a high protein diet though - but baby steps

Default Atkins on Oz TV!!!!!

Hi,

missed the interviews on tv but read about it on the aca website... interesting revelations. I'm going to show my boyfriend a printout, he's very sceptical about the whole 'low-carb thing', as he calls it.

cheers,
cathie

Another story this morning on 7 sunrise.

Same stuff, they brought out yet another NUTritionist who poo-pooed the diet as being two restrictive. She said she only lasted 3 days on induction!!!! then said she couldnt go any longer without bread...

Once again, said that eating all this fat was bad for cholesterol and the kidneys, yet again without providing one iota of evidence.

I am off to the 7 site to email them a list of questions to ask the nutritionist next time she comes on to flog the low fat lifestyle. jFor example, why is it that almost every item in the supermarket comes in a low fat (higher carb) variety, and yet we have never been fatter as a nation, and diabetes is a national epidemic...

Bet they wont read any out on air...

I'll let you know.....
