The sf fudgsicles and the sf creamsicles have both saved me numerous times from cheats. They feel like a cheat even though they are perfectly allowed.

It's a Huzzah! moment sometimes, just being able to reach in the freezer when that chocolate monster rages. It calms and quiets it while making me feel "treated" at the same time.

South Beach is awesome!

Breaking your addictions to sugar/carbs is tough. But the saving grace is Phase 1 is just 2 weeks. In 2 weeks time, you're no longer addicted and the freedom feels fantastic! Stick to it, stay on plan and you will be happy that you did.

Here is an interesting article on Dreamfields pasta, from the perspective of how it affects blood sugar.

Oh... another thing that helped me a LOT ... learn to make vegetables. Lots of them. Try new ones. Make 2 or 3 different ones for dinner. Try new recipes with old ones. Fry them, grill them, bake them, put a grating of cheese over them, salt them, broil them, roast them. That is your new staple instead of pasta. My husband has never eaten so many vegetables in his life... until now.

ETA: And instead of pasta, we really like spaghetti squash. Even my kids like it better than regular spaghetti.

south beach (and imo healthy eating in general) is totally vegetable based. sure you need protein but i venture that most people who are overweight have spent too many years not eating enough vegetables or not eating a vegetable unless it was a french fry, which is not the point AT ALL. LOL
