Default question about sugar in coffee

hi,

is it ok to use real sugar in coffee (a tablespoon daily?) i know artificial sweeteners are ok, but i really don't want to put those chemicals in my body. the natural ones, like stevia, just don't taste good. i am new to SB and just wondered what others do?

thanks!

Hi and welcome!

I'm sorry to tell you that any added sugar is not OK while following South Beach.
If you decide to do something like put sugar in your coffee, that is your choice, but it would not be compliant with the SBD.

Have you read the book yet?

If any do use sugar in their coffee, I don't know about it.
Sorry if I came off a bit harsh.

You don't have a lot of weight to lose and I can see why you'd want to do this. But I would not recommend it to any newbies just starting out. We need to learn any plan before we start to break its rules, or bend them to our likings.

Hi have you done a seach on stevia? There are several different strenghts and processes and forms, liquid and powder. I went to one of my local health food stores and got a lot of answers from them. They even offered me some samples to try too.

I know I like herb teas too which I don't sweetned at all. Another idea is plain decafe tea but add a cinnamon stick to it for flavor.
Hope this gives you some ideas.

I'm learning to take my coffee black and unsweetened. It's not the way I like it, but I've discovered that if you use good water and good beans and brew properly, it is not as bad as you might think!
