Default Gained 3 pounds in one day eating lc bread and snacks

You were right jey100. If it tastes like bread its bread as they said in that link you linked about online lc products. I was doing so good too. Does this mean I just can't tolerate bread and lc sugar? My plan was to get down to 160 pounds then eat lc bread and lc sugary snacks. But it seems they are just as bad as the real thing. This really isn't fair. But I'll put up with it. If I just can't eat bread or sugar the rest of my life then I gotta accept it. I was down to 245 yesterday woke up today at 248. Never gained that much weight in one day since starting induction.

Sigh. Oh well I hate bread and sugar now.

Firstly, relax. I know it is upsetting, but you didn't gain 3 pounds of fat. It sounds like you knocked yourself out of ketosis. Remember the big weight drop at start of induction when you peed your brain out? If you exit ketosis, you will gain a few pounds of water. The pounds will drop off when you re-enter ketosis. I'm over simplifying, but this is the basic info.

Yes, you must plan to eat in maintenance as you did losing weight. You will find what foods work for you along the way to your weight loss goal, so don't worry. By the time you are a maintainer you might have such foods as nuts, berries, Greek yogurt, etc.....you might also have found certain foods trigger cravings or prevent losses. It's all part of Atkins ladder system (see sticky at top of this board for more info on that).

Overtime, the cravings for sugar and bread disappear all together. At that point you might entire arsenal of low carb stuff you love so much you never want sweets or bread again. But if you do, there are plenty of recipes for legal treats and breads in the recipe forums. I myself love making a bread from flax meal.

I wouldn't try these recipes until you reign in cravings, though. Many find it can trigger cravings for old stuff or doesn't mimic the old stuff. Personally, I love these things for what they are- for ex, I loved mashed cauli. I certainly know the difference between mashed cauli and mashed potatoes. But honestly I prefer the cauli.....

Good luck!

One question I have is I noticed a lot of the bread and snacks had a high carb count but low net carb count. Can eating say 150 carbs but only 25 net carbs knock you out of ketosis? I'm starting to wonder if net carbs dont matter but total carbs are the only thing that matters.

The added fibers are water-loving and will hold a lot of water. If you are not accustomed to eating that much fiber, it may be several days before the fiber and water it has absorbed leave your system.

One simple guideline is Just Eat Real Food. Any "net carb" factory made bread is a Fairy Tale. PLease read: https://www.dietdoctor.com/how-to-lose-weight#3

I now will use net carbs when subtracting fiber from vegetables but nothing else.
Also Simple, but that is my own personal guideline. Dr Westman ONLY counts Total Carbs, even for vegetables, in his clinic plan. Recommend that you do that, limiting TOTAL carbs to 20g, until close to goal.

Robin's right ...you did not gain 3 pounds of fat. . In fact, keep this in mind on your journey...

Don’t Trust the Bathroom Scale With Your Mental Health

We humans are about 2/3 water. Each of us contains about 40 liters (or quarts) of the stuff, and each liter weighs a bit over 2 pounds. Our bodies effectively regulate fluid balance by adjusting urine output and sense of thirst, but this is done within a 2-liter range. Within this range, your body doesn’t really care if it is up to a liter above or below its ideal fluid level.

What this means is that we all live inside a 4-pound-wide grey zone, so that from day to day we fluctuate up or down (i.e., plus or minus) 2 pounds. This happens more or less at random, so with any one weight reading you don’t know where your body is within that fluid range. Your weight can be the same for 3 days in a row, and the next morning you wake up and the scale says you’ve ‘gained’ 3 pounds for no apparent reason.

For people who weigh themselves frequently, this can be maddening. There are two solutions to this problem. One, just don’t weigh yourself. Or two, defeat this variability by calculating average weights. You can weigh yourself every day, and then on one day per week, calculate your average for that week (i.e., the average or mean of 7 values). If you are really into math, you can weigh yourself every day and then each day calculate a new mean over the last 7 days. Each day you do this, you drop the oldest value and add the newest one to the calculation.

And of course, for [free] there’s an iPhone ‘App’ that will do this for you

I noticed that better I eat Atkins, The better I eat good meals, The less snacking I need or even want.

I have always found LC products to be an issue so I am very careful with them. Most time, I just make what I want from scratch so I can control the intake.
