Lightbulb Well, what do you know, my headaches were food-related!

I don't get migraines, but I get tension headaches when I'm generally ticked off or under the gun at work. Or so I thought. The kind of headaches where if I don't take something, I will go to sleep and wake up with it.

In Induction my headaches were daily, and even for a week or so afterward. But now they're virtually gone! I never would have associated my headaches with anything I was eating. I've been on elimination diets, and never did anything scream "trigger food."

But hey, this can't be a fluke. Life didn't change, only my headaches. Now if only I could figure out what food/ingredient it was... I know it's not gluten or dairy, because I was GFCF for three years with no change in headaches.

I guess I'll find out when I reintroduce it, right? I wonder how long it will take for the headaches to reappear so I'll know for certain and not mistake them for stress. I'll have to do an elimination/reintroduction test with any suspects.

I used to hang out at a celiac/gluten-sensitivity forum and lots of people who were diagnosed celiac eliminate gluten (wheat, barley, rye, etc) and sudden their lifelong migraines disappear. It happens to non-celiacs too.

I have a coworker whose migraines are caused by gluten. Well, she's unsure if it's gluten or a particular grain, so she just stays gluten-free to play it safe. As you can imagine, she was unwilling to experiment! Unfortunately or fortunately, that's not my trigger. Otherwise I should have been headache-free for those three years.

Dr Davis in Wheat Belly has an exceedingly long list of processed foods with "hidden wheat", things like

Coloring/fillers/texturizers/thickeners: artificial colors, artificial flavors, caramel coloring, caramel flavoring, dextrimaltose, emulsifiers, hydrolyzed vegetable protein, hydrolyzed wheat starch, maltodextrin, modified food starch, stabilizers, textured vegetable protein

http://www.chewfo.com/diets/wheat-b...void-food-list/

If you are super-sensitive and eliminated some of these processed foods, that may explain it?

Or have you eliminated chocolate? Caffeine? Nitrates from processed meats?
more triggers here: http://umm.edu/health/medical/altme...ension-headache

Maybe you are just Happier eating LC fatty foods!
