As many of you know, there is a body of thought among some LC dieters that exercise can be detrimental to fat loss. This appeals to me but it would be unwise of me to invoke this belief because if I did, my currently supportive husband would be convinced I was lazy above all other possibilities and it would not be good for our marriage. Besides, I do actually believe that resistance training is good for body recomposition.
Anyway, we have joined a gym and I have decided to do the program described in the book "The Slow Burn Fitness Revolution" by Frederick Hahn and Dr. Michael Eades. It prescribes that you choose a weight that you can only move with great effort, not starting in any kind of fast or jerky manner that would hurt you. Then you lift it very slowly, to total failure. This is supposed to avoid muscle adaptation because you will frequently find yourself raising your weight level.
Of course, those of you who have studied the physiology of exercise should probably read the book for yourself. It is very short and has great explanations. I will likely do my aerobics on days when I am not doing the lifting, or I will do things like push ups on the off days from the weight work.
