Default What is the lowest carb of peanut butter

Hello,

I was looking at http://forum.lowcarber.org/gallery/...p?i=25433&c=504

When I was at Walmart I was going to pick up the things to make these cookies, but the carbs seem to be very high. The lowest peanut butter carbs was Smuckers Natural creamy and it contains of 2 Tbsp for 6 grams of carb, Fiber 2 grams, and Sugars 1 gram. I was woundering if I use my peanut butter (43 grams of carbs for 1 cup) and using 1 cup of splenda. How many carbs for 1 cookie out of 20 cookies? What is the lowest carb of peanut butter have you found?

Thanks
Patrick.

Why not make your own, using peanuts and some other low carb nut like walnuts or brazil nuts? Drop the nuts into a blender or mill until they form a sort of nutty powder, then use a pestle or even a strong spoon to bash it down into a jar with a little olive oil or tahini. I like my pb spicy, so I often add a little chili too.

This way, you control the carb content of the peanut butter, and homemade pb tends to be less dense than the commercial stuff, so you get what looks like a bigger serving of it too.

The lowest carb I've found is the Smuckers. All that's in it is peanuts and salt. The low carb peanut butter has a bunch of stuff other than peanuts.

Sunny!

43 carbs pb & 24 carbs for Splenda (granular) = 67 divided by 20 approx 3.33 per cookie. I personally don't eat much PB, always give me Heartburn so I haven't even been tempted to look for one l/c, sorry can't help you there.....I am sure there are those who can tho.....

my simply jif is the same, 6 g's per 2 TBSP, 2 g's fiber. I also have purchased Fifty50 which has 7 g's per TBSP, but 3 g's of fiber. I like the flavor of hte Jif, but have not tried the Fifty50 - and they both have hydrogenated oils which bums me out.

Remember, there's a whole lot of rounding going on with those counts, too.... I think if there's 6.4 g's of carbs, they get to call it 6... and if there's 1.6 g of fiber, they get to call it 2.

aggravates me. I think they should have to put the exact counts out to at least one decimal point.

To be "peanut butter" the product has to be at least 90% peanuts.

So 6g of carbs per serving(2 tblspns) is as good as it gets.

If you just want the taste of peanut butter, there is a peanut butter powder that would net you less carbs.

I think the suggestion of mixing nuts is excellent. You could grind 50% peanuts and 50% macademias and probably come in under 4g of carbs per serving.

They have a salt-free version out now too. I'm thinking once the jar of the reg. one is gone (might be a while lol) I will try it. The ingredients list just peanuts.

Wanna lose weight you should have done what I did. Got me some Peter Pan Peanut Butter and get salmonella poisoning. It was awesome. I even got a week off of work to spend pooping lava and puking at the same time. Ah memories. Lost 5 lbs. that week. Good times.

ok I know I"m not supposed to laugh at food poisoning, but it was the "pooping lava" comment that got me.

I'm assuming that's the Carb Options, which is a spread, 65% peanuts....not sure what makes up the other 35%. And it's 5g carbs, 3 net. Natural peanut butter is 6g carbs, 4 net.

I assumed low-carb peanut butter wasn't affected, so I didn't check my Peter Pan peanut butter until a couple weeks ago. Yep! Definitely recalled! The jar was almost empty, too.

I used to eat the Peter Pan no sugar too until the recall. Since then I'll have the Skippy Natural (brown label) if I want chunky, or Simply Jif if I want creamy. Both are pretty good, and I think 4g carbs net is about as good as you're going to get in a commercial PB.
