Default Any nice LC icy beverages for summer?

I'm looking for something akin to a fruit smoothie to fix for this sultry summer weather. I'm about to melt! Anybody have any suggestions for something icy and good? Before LC, I used to take frozen limeaid, or lemonaid mix and put it in the blender with a lot of ice. It would make a fruit gelato almost. Soooooooooo good on a hot summer day.

I go through a lot of Celestial Seasonings fruit flavored teas during the summer. Make them strong with some sweetner and lots of ice. Yes!

7/11's have crystal lite slurpees. They've got 4 calories per ounce, but they are sugar free.

what about something a little different?

Iced decaf coffee?

Brew the decaff and refridgerate overnight.

Next day add sweetener and cream or drink black with lots of crushed ice.

you could even whizz it in the blender with the ice and make a iced Capuccino type drink....

mmmm...i'm going to make this tonight!

Default Coffee!

I agree with the coffee! I had brewed a pot yesterday for my father-in-law and quite a bit was left over. I had turned off the warmer so it had sat there in the pot until it cooled off. I was wandering through the kitchen, thinking about something sweet but not really wanting anything to snack on, when the idea hit me - use the leftover coffee!

I hadn't had iced coffee in sooooo long and all I added was some Hood, some vanilla SF syrup, a good shot of cinnamon, and a lot of ice. It was delicious! Think I'm going to brew another pot right now and let it cool..........

I did not know about 7/11's slurpies - I'll be heading there this weekend.

Default Thanks

Thanks for all the great ideas, folks. But I cannot have aspartame, so I'm going with the coffee idea only sweetened with Stevia plus (I'm used to it, don't even taste the diff anymore). I tried adding fresh sqeezed lemon juice + lemon zest to an icy mix last night. It wasn't the best, but at least it was a reminder of my favorite summer treat. Donna

Hey Donna, the sweetener i use is Flavoured or non flavoured liquid Splenda. No aspartame in sight!

Davinci brand sugar free is great....i forgot to mention to brew the decaff double strength because the ice will dilute the flavour....

Here's a great cooling beverage: prepare and ice your favorite fruit/berry flavored Celestial Seasonings herbal tea. Now mix with Lemonade flavored Crystal Light (about 2/3 tea to 1/3 lemonade). Yummy with a bit of sweetness.

My favorite Celestial seasonings right now is True Blueberry. Mixed Berry is also great. Red Zinger is my old standby.

I've been on the Celestial Seasonings factory tour FOUR times now. I love their teas (in case you can't tell).

I have an ice shaver (snow cone maker type thing) that I got at Wal-mart for about $20. I use it everyday. Sometimes I eat it out of a bowl with a sf syrup (like to flavor coffee), lime and lemon are my current favorites. What I have really been enjoying lately though is I fill up a 30 oz glass with shaved ice and then pour a soda on top and eat it with a spoon. On days that I really want to treat myself I pour some cream on top and then a sf rootbeer, it tastes just like a root bear float, it even gets the foam on top. My kids even thought it taste like a float, it is awesome. I don't do this to often though, too much cream and I won't lose like I want to.

I understood in hot climates people can drink best (hot) tea?

Or is that because they didn't have ice and refrigerators in the past
